The reign of Emperor Huizong ended the brillient society of the Northern Song Dynasty. The essays in this book explore many different aspects of the emperor and his time. Politics, medicine, painting poetry are among many of the subjects discussed. But, while the detail is excellent, there is no overall understanding presented.
