Healthy alternative to sugar,

I bought this after researching alternatives to sugar in order to find a sweetener that doesn't spike your blood sugar. Although not as sweet as sugar, and with a different flavor & texture, I've been very pleased with using this in places I would normally use sugar. I also like that it is organic, as I've read that the water rice is grown in has been shown to contain herbicides and pesticides. I actually use maybe 3/5 brown rice powder and add either Splenda or sugar to achieve the sweetness I'm used to, (and I'll gradually back off and use all rice powder). I haven't baked with it yet, so that is my next experiment.

This review is from: Emperor's Kitchen Organic Brown Rice Syrup Powder, 12-Ounce Bags (Pack of 3) (Grocery)
I got this to replace my sweetener, but the mouth feel and aftertaste is gummy and too grain flavored, not what I expected really. I will try the syrup in the jar see if it's different, this stuff may be okay to bake with, but additional sweetener like honey and/or molasses may require to be palatable. Too much quantity to experiment with, I'd suggest you check your local market for the liquid variety unless you already know recipes using the powdered form of brown rice syrup.
