Great Introduction to this school of thought, April 19, 2009
This review is from: The Emperor's Stargate [With CDROM] (Paperback)
I bought this book because I have heard of the flying stars system, but I didn't know anything about it. I found the cd at the back of the book extremely easy to use as it was a great way to get a reading without knowing how to do the chart. After some time, I realized that it's not actually necessary to know how to set up a chart, but the importance is in the interpretation of the interplay of stars. All in all, I've had countless hours of fun doing all my family and friends' charts. Some of my readings have even proven to be true! Love it!

more like a reference book around the CD, April 11, 2010
This review is from: The Emperor's Stargate [With CDROM] (Paperback)
Unfortunately there aren't a lot of books in english concerning zi wei dou shu, or purple star astrology. I know of only one book, in english, that details this and it isn't on amazon.
"Flying Star Zi Wei Dou shu" is the only book I know of in english that details this system, and it costs around 70 to 80 dollars to ship it to the united states.
Otherwise this book is sort of like a software program with an interpretation book around the chart that is built around the software. True there is some introduction concerning - but it is relatively superficial.
I will say that this system is somewhat accurate though, and from what I've seen other software out there on zi wei dou shu isn't much better or is a lot more expensive.
If you want to learn purple star in depth, the only choices you have are either learn mandarine chinese, or buy that expensive book overseas that I mentioned above. Otherwise, us english speakers will have to satisfy ourselves, with terse websites and software and books such as these.
Other systems to explore if you are interested in predictive astrology that isn't well known is "solar arc" astrology. This system probably also requires you to buy software unless you have a ton of free time on your hands.
Oh, and if you order from amazon directly, beware. My book came in a condition that showed signs of water damage. This is the second time within a year or two that amazon has screwed me by selling a not so new book as a new book. I'll think I'll keep this book, however, because it doesn't look like I'll be reselling it as I don't have any other books/software of this nature.

Written Around The CD, December 13, 2007
This review is from: The Emperor's Stargate [With CDROM] (Paperback)
This book does not explain how to produce the birth chart because, I quote "No fewer than 10 and as many as 18 charts need to be consulted to manually draw up a Stargate birthchart." I find this reason rather lame especially for a book that says in its back cover that it is introducing Zi Wei Dou Shu to western readers for the first time. The book relies too much on the CD and in my case the CD does not play in all computers.
Pro? It gives a nice overview of the system and basic description of the stars and elements within the chart.
Con? It leaves one thirsty and frustrated because of what it leaves out.
Overall, could have been so so much better.
