Gothminister gets the point where Rammstein missed it,
By
This review is from: Empire of Dark Salvation (Audio CD)
From my personal point of view this new release of the norwegian band Gothminister is not as good as their first one...but it still is quite good! Less electronic (less danceable then), a little bit less inspired than "Gothic Electronic Anthems", but worth to have it however. If you like bands like Rammstein and Rob Zombie, this cd won't disappoint you at all. As a matter of fact, if you got tired of Rammstein after their last two releases ("Mutter" and "Reise, Reise"), Gothminister is quite a good substitute.
The best track in this album is "Do you believe in monsters?", a hit in any gothic or metal/industrial club. The first 3 tracks are quite ok (as well those co-mixed by Stefan Glaumann, who has already worked with Rammstein, Paradise Lost or Within Temptation), but the second part of the album becomes a little bit boring or uninspired, yet full of quality. I said before, the problem with this album is that the first one was more varied, more inspired and almost full of danceable tracks. Anyway, a good cd, much better than those of many so-called industrial bands around.

Great album...too bad theres more filler material than needed.,

This is one of the best industrial/electro-metal/gothic rock albums I have heard yet. The only problem with this CD would have to be the numerous 30 second sound clips that come after about every three tracks or so (I assume they were solely created to be filler material since they appear so often). Overall, though, very good and comes highly recommended.

everybody have different tastes when talking about music, so i can't say that people is gonna like the cd in the same way as i do, industrial/goth is the kind of music that is very difficult to make it sound different to another bands, that's why people is gonna find gothminister pretty similar to bands like deathstars, unheilig, etc but still pretty good, excellent voice, good lyrics, etc

i'm not going to add much other than the fact that there are more songs worth listening to other than 1 and 3. i personally also like track 6 forgotten and track 10 we die in dreams tonight. he's rigth in saying that a lot of the songs sound similar, but they are varied enough to at least keep me interested. and btw his voice really is amazing. i'd at least give this one a quick listen for yourself before you skip over it.

"Dark Salvation" and "Monsters" are unbelievably great songs. After hearing those two, I thought that this would instantly become one of my all time favorite albums, but sadly, the album kind of falls apart after that. Not all the rest of it is bad, it just kinda all sounds the same, like a dull Rob Zombie clone. It's too bad because Bjorn Brem has an amazingly deep voice and is probably one of my favorite goth singers. Now all he needs to do is concentrate on rocking hard on more than two songs per album. Gothminister has more albums than this, but this is the only one I own, or have heard, so maybe I am being pre-judgemental in saying that. Check out Dancing Ferret records' website to sample a few bits of the songs before you buy this, but there isn't much to listen to beyond the first few tracks.
