Empire Earth II would be a five star game except that it has fairly bad performance issues on newer computers. I am running a Core i7 920 with a HD 5870 and during a 10 player skirmish (1000 unit pop cap) on a gigantic map, I often had to run the game speed at 20-50% to bring the lag down to managable levels. These performance problems drop its rating down to four star.

I rated it two stars is because, as dark elf 2319 pointed out, this game says right on the back "Single Player only." The multiplayer components of the game are, in fact, disabled. That right there takes a lot of the replay value of the game and add to it the fact that it is not properly labeled as such above, it drops down to the 1-2 star category.

If the multiplayer component of the game was the primary reason for looking at it (as it was with me), definitely stay away from this copy. It is a good game otherwise.

While this page advertises the original edition of the game complete with multiplayer, what BLS Mart actually sends out is the "Sold Out Software" edition that is completely lacking in multiplayer. I'd suggest buying the game used instead of purchasing a stripped-down version falsely advertised as being the full game.

In keeping with the faster pace of game players these days, this pieces in this game move very quickly. In EE-1 I loved the close combat. In EE-2 you just grab a batch of units and throw them at the enemy. There's no chance for unit control and using your strengths against the enemies' weak points etc. Everything is just grab the units and have them attack. While good for 1st person shooters this doesn't fit in with strategy games. It looks like whoever directed this effort lost sight of their audience or target market. EE-1 (STD & AOC versions) was a labor of love by the developer. EE-2 was a bad sequel. Crashes are frequent but basically I lose interest during the game. Though I've played EE-1 hundreds of times, I've never completed a single game of EE-2.

The game would not load, even when I used and reused the numbers on the package. I am very disappointed. I did send a letter to the help desk and am still waiting for help.

I've lost hours upon hours into this game. Mostly through random games and building scenarios to play out. It's a shame that they don't make RTS games like this anymore.

I loved the first empire earth for its complexity of units. I loved the idea of making specialized squads and carrying out missions that overall made a strategy. This new Empire Earth brings a few new things to the picture that I loved, with increased A.I. activity to boot. However they also took away from the diversity of units in my opinion which is a negative. Overall? I like it and would definately recommend it to the total war finatic! enjoy

It worked without flaw on my Dell Optiplex 3000 running on Windows XP with a total RAM of 2 Gb. The only time I had difficulty is when I pinned two hoards of over 500 troops each of Chinese invasion forces did I encounter lag, but that was on my end of things. Have fun with it and if you have issues check related problems with your rig and computer games in general before blaming the software company or the Amazon shipper.

I love this game BUT unfortunetly the disc doesnt even load up after i installed it. I played this years back and was hooked. The company is from Sold out software? Wtf is that? I have a window 8 brand new laptop and this wont even run it. Dont waste your money on this reject gold edition. Go and purchase the 20 dollar one not the gold edition. Where is my disc now? Its collecting dust in my cabinet smh.
