I have owned both the 12" and 16" Empire combination squares for a while now, and I am very pleased with the quality and accuracy of both. This rafter square deserves the same high praise. It is accurate, well machined, and light. Though I am not a professional carpenter and only have need to lay out rafters about once a decade, I do find uses for this little square all the time in my wood shop. Where the combination squares are ideal for taking various types of depth/length/width measurements, this square is the fastest and easiest way to draw a line 90 degrees to an edge - great for square cross cuts.

Bottom line - you get a lot of accuracy and value at a low price.

This is a really nicely designed square. It is sturdy, but lightweight. The thick edge is perfect as a knife guide.

It does what is supposed to and is very durable for the price. I would have broke thing by now had it been plastic like my others.
