A Multicultural Music Experience,
By A Customer
This review is from: Empire: Two Worlds Collide (Audio CD)
This soundtrack was definitely a "multicultural music experience." I would've given this album 5 stars because of the diversity in (good) music, but I ended up giving it 4 stars because the songs only sounded great in the movie. The songs don't sound as great without the script. My favorite songs in the CD are: 1) Jon Secada's "My Life (Through the Spirit In Your Eyes)" 2) Jené's "I Will Remember Your Smile and 3) Angel Lopez - "As I Stand Alone." Those songs brought a lot of passion into the movie and they were my favorite songs during the movie. If you liked the movie, I'd recommend this album. I did give it 4 stars, so I did think it was a great album.

Good CD. India.Arie's 'Welcome to my empire(Spanish and english)' songs were what made me decide to get it.Does anyone know the name of the song that plays when Victor is shot after parking the car and he's having the flashback of his brother being shot?

What is the name of the song in the movie "Empire" the girl on stage is singing at the club when Victor Rosa (John Leguizamo) with his fiancee Carmen, Jack Wimmer (Peter Sarsgaard), and his girlfriend (Denise Richards) went to hang out. It was the night Victor told Jack and his girlfriend Carmen was pregnant. ******The Artist Mia Rebel - "She Says"

I thought the movie and soundtrack were great. Although there was a song I wish was on the cd. It's the backround music when Jon leguissamo's character goes to look for Jake at his apt. and the whole apt. is empty. Does anyone have any idea how I can find that song? Please let me know.

This good soundtrack contains a combination of Hip-Hop, R&B from up and comers on the Motown label, and a little soul. All the songs portray a feeling that was portrayed in the movie, with the slow r&b expressing the reltionship in the movie with the Hip Hop expressing the rugged lifestyle that was shown. "I still love you" by 702 is a good song with good beat to it, although it took me a few listenings for me to like it. "Best thing" by Rachel is also a good song with a nice hook to it. "White lines" by Mobb Deep is a off the hook track, it combines an old beat from a previously released track(real hip hop)and a old school joint (Higher baby). "J.O.S.E." is a decent track by up and comer jose (produced by Swizz Beatz) "Fame" by DMX is taken from a previously released track from his Great Depression LP, it was good to hear it again. "I will remember your smile" is a very good track by a rather unknown Jene, she flows great with this song and has a beautiful voice. "Slow down" by India.Arie brings a kind of soulful taste and she is always good to listen to. "Welcome to my empire" by latin superstar India is my second favorite and is kind of the theme song of the movie, I loved the way she combined good singing with latin beats and words, a very good song. "As I stand alone" by Angel Lopez is also a pretty good R&B track. "I Seen it All" by Tito's group Ironclad (Tito was the very FIRST Puerto Rican/Latino rapper to hit the scene back in the day)is another off the hook track that combines good beats with good mic skills, another one of my favorites. "My life through the spirit in your eyes" (written by director Franc.Reyes) by latin singer Jon Secada signifies the most the kind of relationship John Leguizamo's character had to his girl in the film, the best song on the soundtrack. "Amonte" by Luis Fonsi(member of son by four)is a good touch of slow romance type r&b, India's spanish version of "Welcome to my empire" is a good bonus. All in all this sountrack is very good, the movie was off the hook, with good acting and a excellent script. Go see it, and get the soundtrack. |
