A good first novel,

I picked up this book on a whim and was impressed from the first page. I don't usually read sci-fi, but it really hinted at what could be in the near future. Van Hyfte's imagination and obvious research made this book a page turner. I never once doubted his accuracy in describing battles, weapons, or the characters involved. I suspect his next two installments of the Empires saga will include more character development and even greater plot twists, as well as more of the amazing technological inventions running rampant in Van Hyfte's mind.

The book Empires is a wonderful book. It grabbed me from the first page and didn't let go until I was done. I don't usually read sci fi, but was given this book by a friend. It was easy to read and made it feel like you were right there watching it all take place as it happened. I think Mr. Van Hyfte will go far with his excellent imagination
