OK But...,

Not that much new material was added to this edition of a classic text. This was a good candidate, in fact, for the now-burgeoning movement to have students buy earlier editions of very expensive textbooks.
Even with Amazon's pricing, this softcover, 500+ page work goes out the door for over seventy clams. My students found serviceable copies of the third edition for a lot, lot less, and I thought that was a good thing. Hey, if the new edition added that much incremental value, I would have insisted that this edition be procured. But so little is substantively new here that I had a hard time insisting on it...

This I have to admit was one of the "better" texts I've read for college. The overall set up of the book (from a student standpoint) was easy to follow, and actually written in a way that kept me interested. So many times texts are so boring it's hard to want to pick them up to read...this wasn't the case.
As with most texts, your supposed to come away learning "something." In this case, I was overall pretty happy that I came away learning more than I have in other courses...I'm going to say because of the book, not the professor.

I needed this book for my Master's class. It is a good reference and great textbook if you have to take a training/development class.

This may be one of the driest textbooks I have read so far in my Master's Program.
