Book Description

0131477358 978-0131477353 August 29, 2004 3
For courses in Employment Law, Labor Law, and Human Resource Management. Moran approaches employment law with a clear introduction of legal principles explained in the layperson's language. These principles can then be applied to understand judicial opinions in the extensive series of cases and examples that appear throughout each chapter. The scenarios and human resource dilemmas challenge the students' critical thinking skills as they attempt to resolve the problems. The Third Edition features extensive revisions on HR law, class actions, a new chapter on alternate dispute resolution, and a special packaging option with VersusLaw.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Book, February 8, 2010

This book is just OK. It's definitely written from/for an HR person, not a law student, although it's absolutely full of cases which makes it a bit difficult to read. The general approach is to present a topic and then give real case examples. The topic information is often, in my opinion, a bit short and could be easily expanded to explain the critical points the cases are trying to enforce / develop. The cases themselves make the book long and difficult to read, mostly because you have to read the back story and legal argument to get to the reason why it was included in a particular chapter. Also, I do find it a bit preachy... summaries and quick examples often tell you not just about the law, but about how certain things are morally right and wrong. If this is for a class, you're stuck.. if you want a good HR / Law book, you might want to try another book.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's Okay, May 2, 2011

The seller over stated the condition of this book, the seller stated "it almost new", the book was used and very shabby, the sellers should be honest about the conditions of products that are sold.

One of the best textbooks I've even gotten. I'm actually sad to part with it becuase it's got a TON of useful information that I know I'm going to wish I had to refer back to in the future. Otherwise it's written and laid out very straight-forward and easy to read. A+++++
