The hoop is large so taking it apart is definitely preferable for storing. An earlier review mentioned that the reviewer had a hard time taking it apart, but I haven't found that to be the case for me (and I have arthritis in one of my hands!). The hardest part is finding the tiny buttons you have to press in - they're under the foam coating on the hoop - but once I find them I don't have any problems taking it apart (even with my arthritic hand).
This hula-hoop works just fine and is nice looking, but it is way too difficult to take apart for storage or travel. Also, when the hoop is put together, it is so large (much larger than a regular hoop I bought at a local toy store before purchasing the weighted hoop), that there is no place to store it in my home without disassembling it. However, this is a nearly impossible feat. In the directions, they make it seem as though it is really easy to take apart, but in fact, it is extremely hard to do. You need to push two buttons in and pull/twist for each segment to pull apart. However, the springs on the buttons are so hard, that my female hands could not push them both in at the same time. Also, the buttons are extremely hard to access. I finally gave up and will be donating this product to a local charity.
I as not disappointed with the concept. The hoop works and I can sustain the exercise for as long as I want. I can watch television or listen to music while I do it in comfort of my air-conditioned home.
However there are some problems with the kit that must be addressed.
The Cardio Core Hoop kit comes with a hoop segmented in pieces that for the most part are easy to put together--there is a button that clicks in to secure the piece within the hoop--however, the last segment doesn't glide in easily, some force is necessary as well as a simultaneous holding in on the button which makes for some moments of confusion especially when the desire is there to get on with the workout. Once the hoop is assembled to satisfaction--meaning all the sections are clicked in--the hoop cannot be disassembled with any ease whatsoever. I gave up and just put the hoop behind my dresser to store. Regrettably, I purchased the hoop to take with me when I travel, but the dis-ease of getting it back into its original pieces makes this virtually impossible. In addition, this hoop is not as padded as I would like; I had some black and blue marks after use.Read more ›
While I had fun trying this product out, because I hadn't hooped in over a decade, it was very painful. I had expected my abs to hurt a bit, but this was not the case. I'm sure if i'd continued it would be effective, however I have bruises on the sides of my waist. For those people who think that's "okay, and normal for the first few days", I'd say you're crazy. Bruising is not on my list of hooping normalsy.
The video is a joke. It shows you squats and excercises irrelevant to hula hooping, except they have you hold the hoop while you do them.
The product is not worth what they ask, nor is any result worth the pain and brusing.

I bought this hoop from another store and it is horrible. I would give it half a star if if could.
Unless you are very coordinated and used to hooping be very very careful. Read more
The hoop itself is well made. It is easy to assemble, however, I have had troubles getting it back apart. The workout was nothing special. Read morePublished on September 14, 2011 by Traeonna
