Very easy to use book. Very friendly and even made me laugh when I read the author self examples, which were written with a sense of humor, and in many cases, seemed to be taken from my own life. The book does make one think what is the parent roll in the child's behavior but also gives a clear action plan how to act in order to get it right. I followed the action plan to get my daughter to better cooperate during bath time and it worked like magic. The attitude towards a childs' TV "addiction" and the way they ignore you while they are watching TV, made me understand my son better and not take his behavior personally. I highly recommend this book!!

This is the kind of book I was looking for: Practical, tells you what to do and touched many of the issues that annoyed me with my young children, like limits, siblings relationships, toilet training, getting cooperation and child's' self esteem. The author explains and demonstrates the right way to address your child to achieve your goal. Every chapter includes a list of thinking points, sometimes formulated as rules of `What to do" and" What not to do," along with insights about children's behavior. It is clear that the author favors dialogue and cooperation over imposing one-sided authority .This approach encourages the urge to follow its words, and I did! For instance: my son tends to be shy .The book made it very easy for me to understand why my previous approach not only did not help him develop more confidence, but even made him shyer! Several days after taking the approach suggested in the book, I can feel the difference in me (taking a professional psychological approach and not playing it by ear), but more important, with my son: He started to speak for himself! I can't tell you how happy that makes me. Great buy!

This book offers answers to the common problems repeatedly encountered by any parent. What I loved about Dr. Saggie's approach is that it tells you how to act in order to prevent conflicts, and still get what you want. It also reminds you what your goals should be and that is just as important since sometimes we tend to forget or get confused. For example - the author put much emphasis on maintaining mutual respect, especially when you don't get what you want, instead of developing immediate anger when things don't go your way. Anyone who have toddlers, know that it happens quite often... The author approach cultivates a sense of personal capability and helped me as a parent to be more self confidence in my child. Here's one example for and idea I got from the book (I wrote it down and put it on the fridge so that I get a constant reminder of it) : "It is important to remind your children, and yourselves, that you love them, even when they are unbearable; you love them - even if you don't love their behavior". I keep on saying this to myself several times a day and it helps me to find the strength to be more tolerant and calm. This book really opened my eyes on many issues I had with my kids. I'm sure it can do the same for any parent!

I purchased the book and I have to say that it is written wonderfully. Finally, someone wrote a book in a clear, simple style, without unnecessary philosophy, and with a lot of practical tips that everyone can easily use.

This book addresses issues all parents are familiar with. This books really helps to "get it right".
Very often we do not know what is the right approach to drive our children into a certain action or behavior. This book provides many such answers.
I have it for a few days by now, and managed to implement its recommendations is several occasions.
If you feel frustrated from your inability to make your kid take the right action for him, you will find plenty of working solutions and I must say that what I tried actually works.

I heard about this book from a friend and I have to agree: it is an incredible book. It touches on every issue - big and small - related to raising children; it is written in a matter-of-fact and humorous style. It's very simple, fun to read, and even more fun to apply. I am a mother of two small children. I get the impression that the authors' darling boy and girl behave just like my darling boy and girl, and in general, much like most people's dear children. I am looking forward to Dr. Saggie's next book...

I followed the recommendations listed here and chose this book to guide me with some difficulties I had with my 2 y.o and with my 5 y.o. Also, I wanted to find out how I can help my children to develop a positive self esteem and self confidence (my older one is a bit shy). I found in the book all the answers I was looking for. They were presented in the form of a very clear, logical psychological action plans. The author tackles all the aspects of all the major challenges parents to young children are facing. I was especially interested in dealing with morning separation routine, separation before I go on working trips, tamper tantrums, sibling relationships and weather or not I can influence my child's character trait. The book action plans do guide you through the challenge you are facing. I got the feeling I can trust the action plans presented, especially when I read the supporting case studies. These case studies made me feel like I'm not the only once experiencing such challenges and gave me the confidence that there if I will follow the action plan, I will get the desired outcome I am looking for - like more cooperation, a calmer atmosphere etc. I feel I have to share with you that the action plan to encourage my first born son to be more assertive, have showed results within 6 weeks and I am even more optimistic as I look ahead. You do have to really follow the action plans step by step and make the effort in order to make a change , but it's a small price to pay to get what you want (especially if you compare it to attending parenting cessions with a psychologist). This book offers an approach and a language that was long called for and I highly recommend it to all the parents that have young children, who either have a specific challenge or just want to be more aware!

At last, a book that tells you the bottom line of what needs to be done and why it works. Written simply, clearly and to the point. I had a problem weaning my child off the bottle. I followed what was written in the book, and within three weeks my child was off the bottle, without any grief or hysterical crying. Highly recommended !!!
