Empowering Your Indigo Child,
This review is from: Empowering Your Indigo Child: A Handbook for Parents of Children of Spirit (Paperback)
I have just finished reading the new "Empowering Your Indigo Child - A Handbook for Parents of Children of Spirit" by Wayne Dosick, PhD and Ellen Kaufman Dosick, MSW, published by Weiser Books.
I highly recommend it to all parents or caregivers of today's children. You can see my blog [...] This book not only offers helpful, detailed descriptions of some of the kids today, (they focus on Indigo children) but included are three separate processes to help heal energetic issues carried by all sensitive people, but especially the children. The Dosicks have published these inspired processes which include fun, guided games for parents to play along with their children. The book contains 3 parts, along with an introduction. Part 1 is "The 17' Spiritually Healing Children's Emotional Wounds. These are games for parents and children aged 7-17. Part 2 is " Gracelight", the process for Weaving Harmony for the Littlest Indigos ages 0-7. And Part 3 is" The Point of Essence Process", which is Pro-Claiming the Truth of Who You Are. This process is for 18 years and up. My 14 year old son and I performed "The 17' yesterday and I experienced myself becoming emotional several times when he and I connected on such intimate levels. I realized that I had not been really seeing and supporting him as clearly as I thought I had been and I think he felt a closer bond with me after we were through as well. The games were fun and easy and didn't take that much time to complete. I also performed Part 3, The Point of Essence Process for myself and then with my husband. I felt an immediate calming within. I think this book would benefit any parent and child who invest the small amount of time it takes to play the games. The outcome may surely be relaxation and connectedness to one another as well as the environment, which can benefit everyone, young and old. "Empowering your Indigo Child" will be released on March 1, 2009 on Amazon.com. You can order your copy today. Buy 2 and give one as a gift!

Guidebook for Psycho-Spiritual Healing Techniques Parents Can do With their Indigo Children,
By
This review is from: Empowering Your Indigo Child: A Handbook for Parents of Children of Spirit (Paperback)
I have my issues with a lot of what's written about Indigo children (click through to my blog on my Amazon bio if you're interested), but wanted to review this book because it outlines specific psycho-spiritual exercises parents can do with their children to release negative emotions such as anger, fear, despair, etc. The authors have developed these techniques based on their own work with children, and with help from their spirit guides. Although I'm not comfortable with everything they say about Indigo children, I do like the exercises, and they describe them very thoroughly - with pictures - in a way that will allow any parent to do them with their child.
There are three sets of healing techniques outlined in the book. The first are the `YouMees', seventeen exercises for children ages 7-17, designed to be performed in a ritual, game-like fashion, between parent and child. Each of these exercises is meant to address a particular form of negativity in a child, such as anger, grief, fear, distrust, despair, etc. Specific instructions are given for each exercise, including how to set up a sacred space to conduct them in, how to initiate each session, and how to close each one out. The exercises themselves are very easy to perform, mostly involving statements on the part of both the parent and child, and simple movements. The YouMees are the heart of the book, and considered the primary healing method for Indigo children. The second healing method is designed for children under 7, who "have not yet developed the cognitive abilities and skills to participate meaningfully in a healing session...and are connected to their parents by a 'spiritual umbilical cord.'" In the ritual associated with this method, called Gracelight, the parent is acting as a surrogate for the child, until they are old enough to participate in the YouMees. The final healing method is for adults who feel they are Indigos, and revolves around energy work with the seven primary chakras, and issues associated with their blockage. If you subscribe to the Indigo Children theory, and are a parent looking for new ways to work with your own children, you will probably really appreciate Empowering Your Indigo Children. If you aren't so sure, or aren't a parent, you may still find it interesting. In any case, the instructions for trying the techniques are clear and accessible, and something anyone can do.

Heal your child's emotional wounds,
By New Connexion Journal (Portland, OR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Empowering Your Indigo Child: A Handbook for Parents of Children of Spirit (Paperback)
Among children born today, more than 80 percent are Indigo children. So what makes an Indigo child? They are highly intelligent, intuitive and extremely likable creative kids that don't fit into the norm. This book is hands-on for parents and caregivers of Indigos, who are advanced spiritually and highly sensitive children. Three sections offer demonstrations to spiritually heal your child's emotional wounds. "Gracelight" gives directions for a spiritual healing process for children up to age seven, while "The 17" is for ages seven to 17 and "The Point of Essence Process" heals adult Indigos.
The techniques or special "games" include hands-on healing, scripted meditation and other simple exercises that take about two minutes to play. Plus, more than 100 black and white photographs illustrate the techniques. As a mother of two Indigo children, I felt this book shed some light on some of the issues occurring at home. I can't wait to see the results of playing these games. -- Tiffany LaRue

Isaw results instantly in doing the process for my 4yr old daughter. The book is an easy read and the effects were an increased level of peacefullnwss &reasonability in my child. This book is for those who are willing to take a chance on a spiritual-level energy approach to supporting their children. There is nothing in the processes which I would consider difficult or uncomfortable. It was worth the time to take a chance and I'm so glad that I did. At the end of the process, which I did remotely for my child, I saw her covered in gold sparkles. When I picked her up from school that day, her teacher apologized-she was covered in gold glitter from head to foot!

While I'm not a believer in most of the new-age mantra, I bought the book under the assumption that my kids were "indigo".
I found the material valuable, in the sense that it is written to address of today's kids who have much less contact with the parents that at least I did. The exercises are worth the effort and help building up the bond between parent and child; as well as preparing the kid to be (more) independent and self-reliant. |
