Empty Without You,
By Ron (Jacksonville, FL, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Empty Nest (DVD)
I was just talking to some friends about how they don't have any good sitcoms out there today. There hasn't been a good comedy in years. We started reminiscing and both of us recalled "Empty Nest" at the same time. My immediate response was to check out Amazon to see if I could get a DVD of the series and was disappointed to learn it hasn't been released yet.
You have to put this on DVD. Show America true comedy. You will laugh until you cry. A great ensemble!!!!

Empty Nest is the wonderful companion show to The Golden Girls, and the season DVDs are waaaaaay overdue (especially since all of The Golden Girls seasons are now out). Let's go, nameless faceless production company - put EMPTY NEST out on DVD!!!!!

As a big fan of Kristy's growing up, to see her in this comedic yet sometimes dramatic role as an adult was very entertaining, hardly ever rerun on T.V anymore, I speak for all her her fans out there, bring it out on dvd PLEASE!!!and hurry

Kind of like "too close for comfort" only with a bit more character depth!,
This review is from: Empty Nest (DVD)
If you were a fan of the TV series "too close for comfort" you will probably enjoy this series as well. Like "comfort" the plot revolves mostly around a father and his two daughters. In this case though the daughters (played by Dinah Manoff and Kristy McNichol) have come back home after striking out in life. We get to see a bit more depth at times regarding the lives of the characters and things sometimes get fairly dramatic for a comedy. The series began to falter after a few seasons but the first couple were great!
This is a very good comedy and deserves to be released on DVD.

I absolutley loved this show when I was younger and I am ready for the DVD to come out. It's just one of those no brainer fun sitcoms like they don't make anymore!

"Empty Nest": Synopsis of a great show!,
By 80sLady "PRG" (NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Empty Nest (DVD)
"Empty Nest" was a spinoff of "The Golden Girls". Harry Weston, the patriach, is a widow living with his two adult daughters. After a few failed relationships, Barbara and Carol seek the comforts of home much to their father's chagrin.
Harry gets constant instrusions.. eh.. visits from his neighbors, ditzy Charlie Dietz and Sophia Petrillo (yes, the awnry one of "The Golden Girl" bunch.) Don't turn your back on Charlie, though! He'll likely swipe some food from your fridge if you do. Harry practices pediatrics and is assisted by a sassy Southern named Laverne. Anyone who loves "The Golden Girls" or appreciates some good homespun family fun would enjoy this show.

What a nice show. Funny, warm, and a good character dynamic. It is one of those things that is easy to watch, and perfect for a rainy day. It is very surprising to me that it hasn't made it to DVD. Perhaps if it gets enough reviews and votes here, that may help.

Hey! Where are the DVD's?,

I can't fathom why this show hasn't been released on DVD yet. It was one of the few spinoffs that I considered better than the original show that it was spun off from (Golden Girls), besides Frasier. Hey Disney (the guys that own the rights) - please release Empty Nest on DVD so we can enjoy this show again! It was good, fun family entertainment without the need for that Family Guy-style vulgarity that I don't even want my kids watching.
