The "Empty Well Syndrome" is the process in which we go to a person (well) and expect to get the love, acceptance and affirmation that we need to be a healthy, loving and giving person, only to walk away empty with an unmet need in our life. The syndrome is going back time after time after time expecting to get something we desperately need only to walk away empty handed and hurt. This leaves a person dry and thirsty for what could be a lifetime.

From the Author

As I began to write this book in June of 2000, I didn't even know what I was writing, or exactly why? I simply began to write out of the pain of my own life and it wasn’t until December of 2004 that I had my conclusion.

This book has turned out to be so much bigger then I ever dreamed and I would urge you to take out the names that are in this book and insert your name wherever possible.

The "Empty Well Syndrome" has affected so many people and it dumbfounds me still to this day that we are so empty. The truth of the matter is, so many people don’t even know how empty they are.

I had exhausted every possibility and manipulated every situation to get my well to produce for me what I needed. On the day I finally realized that my well was completely oblivious to my needs and it was time for a change thus coining the phrase the "Empty Well Syndrome".

The day I realized that my well was empty was one of the most painful days of my adult life. The truth of the matter is I always suspected that my well was empty I just didn’t want to admit it.

There is something on the inside of us that wants to believe the good in people, and when we have a love for someone it’s hard to believe that Well (person) does not have or is incapable of giving to us what we need.

It is a harsh reality to find out that the one who you think has the power to fill your well is just as empty as you. When you figure out that their well is empty; to finally figure out that yours is empty, will surely get you thinking about your entire life and that is the point of this book.

Allow yourself the opportunity to question your life and get healing so that you can make a better life for you and your family. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

I will share to this as an experience that everyone needs to encounter in there life. No matter how well or not we were raised; everyone has encountered a life full of goods and bad. In the book Mark refers to real life experiences and emotions in a way I felt it was as if he were there through my tough times. As a boy to growing to be a man, I desired to be loved and receive attention from my father. It was that one thing I never got, that drove me to desperate dark corners, and opened my life to hurt and pain only the world could provide. As I worked through this book it was an experience that I really didn't want to have and never wanted to really deal with. Things I experienced in life that I never wanted to admit happened and even more important realize that those events were still a real part and reason for why and who I am today. This book walked me through dealing with hurt, rejection, pain, loneliness, anxiety, and fear. Fear had consumed me to the point that I was scared to do anything. Therefore I didn't think I was the problem. In the later part of the book I realized that I was not the issue or problem at all, it was just that some people aren't capable of providing the things that you feel you need. What I realized was that instead of carrying unforgiveness and rage around for those people that I need to release them and cut the chains that I had hung around my neck for what turned out to be my whole life. I live free today knowing that it is my desire to make sure that I am a full well for my 5 year old daughter and the importance of having good full wells around to help fill me when I am thirsty.Read more ›

This is one book that will make a profound impression upon its readers. Everyone that I know who has read the book has come back with a similar statement.

I started the book and it took me on a journey that led me to recognize that I needed to take a look at the role I have or have not played in the lives of my children.

When my Dad read the book it opened his eyes in the same way.

"Empty Well, Thirsty Heart" reveals there are many avenues in which we travel through life's journey. The insight of the author, Mark Leonard, to be able to express how without love,a need to belong, structure in our lives, recognition, affirmation from early childhood to adulthood is so important. Starting with our parents, family, acquaintances and those we look up to have such an overwhelming effect on future relationships throughout our lives.

I believe that this book belongs be on every bookshelf in schools, bookstores for every young adults and adults to read. Especially, if they do not have anyone in their life to hear their heart's cry. My first thought after I read this book was how this young author had the insight ablity to write this book with a desire to help change lives. To understand the need for love, relationship, approval and support in order to be successful in life. The understanding to life's journey and how one can change their life no matter what circumstance have been placed in their path. In life we have choices especially when we have a personal relationship with the Lord and know how much He love us even if no one else does. He is the stream of life in our desert. He fills our empty well and quenches our thirsty heart.

This book will enable the reader to see many issues that they have experienced and understand that they are not alone in these circumstances. One particular chapter spoke on being invisible that really touched home for me. I couldn't put the book down. Carmela

**Warning** MUST HAVE A BOX OF KLEENEX WHEN YOU READ! This should be right under the title! This is one of those books that take you through a real life process of forgiveness. We all have issues, but it's great to know that other people are going through or have gone through the same "issues". And not all of my issues were my fault. There's a clear understanding when you deal with the issues that you KNOW are a consequence of your own decisions, but how do you deal with the issues that you were just an innocent bystander... it's not your fault, but you still felt the rejection the hurt. This book is a true healing tool for those who just couldn't understand, "Why me".
