This review is from: En La Intimidad (Audio CD)
If there is one thing in the history of recorded music that's certain is that during the mid 50's to early 60's there were two romantic singers which scored top best selling hit songs for Capitol Records now also known as "EMI" and "EMI Latin". North of the Border was non other than the great late Nat King Cole, who eventually recorded 3-4 albums in Spanish, making his mark in Latin America to please his fans there and South of the Border was definitely the great Chilean bolerista Lucho Gatica. The latest CD re-issued compilation of best selling Lucho Gatica recorded hits by EMI Music of Mexico is definitely wonderful to hear. Even though its contents has not been published by Amazon yet, here it is: "Concierto de Amor", "Enamorada", the international classic composed by the great Consuelo Velazquez, "Besame Mucho", "Encadenados", "Gracias", Pedro Flores' "Obsesion" "Escribeme", "Quiereme","Angustia", "Sinceridad","Dios No lo Quiera", "Crei", Rene Touzet's "Cada Vez Mas", "Nadie Me Ama","Echame a Mi La Culpa",Armando Manzanero's classic, "Voy A Apagar La Luz",Ricardo Garcia Perdomo's "Total", "Amor que Malo Eres", "Si No Estas Conmigo" and E.Santos Discepolo's "Uno".
Although I praise this wonderful new release of the increasingly elusive recorded repertoire by Lucho Gatica, I can't help but comment, whatever became of Lucho Gatica other recorded hits like Brazil's Ivon Curi's "Escucha", "Vilma", "No Niegues Que Me Quisiste", Maria Grever's "Ya No Me Quieres" in its absolute best version when sung and recorded by Lucho Gatica", "No Te Vayas Amor", "Di Que Me Quieres" and "Si Tu No Estas" with Roberto Inglez and his Orchestra, etc. etc.
These were also best selling hits by Gatica, yet they haven't been re-issued on CD by EMI and its about time that they are since we the Lucho Gatica fans have been waiting for their re-issue on CD for a long long time.
I do highly recommend "En La Intimidad" to all Latin romantic music lovers and all Lucho Gatica's fans.
