5.0 out of 5 stars Light Years ahead of its time!
A truly exceptional album light that was pushing the limits of contempory music at the time. Some beautiful tracks with excellent quality vocals that still sound fresh today.

1.0 out of 5 stars These guys are jerks
Had dinner with these guys in San Francisco when they were touring the US promoting this album. They were arrogant and talked nothing but s**t about their fans - which was hilarious to me because these were not the most intelligent guys (ie, they were intellectual doorknobs) I'd ever met and if you've heard their music you know that talent doesn't live in their house...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Soundtrack of the Nineties, April 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: En Tact (Audio CD)
This was the disc that changed the way I look at music forever. Everyone should listen at least once - I cannot imagine what life would have been like without it. You may not believe in their message, but the message is simply this: nature and technology have become intertwined. In order to survive into the next millenia, we must transform our culture into a fusion of high technology and Gaian ideals. The music is many things - tribal, electronic, harsh, soft, beautiful and frightening all at the same time. Look beyond any pop-pretenses for a transcendental journey into yourself...

5.0 out of 5 stars Right In My Groove, June 6, 2000

The Shamen's "Move Any Mountain" is one of my favorite songs and opens this album. It has a feel good quality about it that I think is unique. It's one of those songs I play over and over and never get tired of hearing. This album is full of other great tracks like "Human Energy", "Make It Mine", "Hear Me", and "666 Edit". I really like "Lightspan"; it's a funky, futuristic, space-travel kind of thing. It would have sure livened up some of the Star Trek movies.

I like dance music with a hard edge and that's what all of these tracks deliver. This album is right in my groove.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ahead of it's time!, September 8, 2005
This review is from: En Tact (Audio CD)
I can't believe that this innovative lost treasure was made all the way back in 1991! For something of that period in time, "En-Tact" is light years ahead of it's time and actually pushed the boundaries of trance, techno, and pop music. Perhaps the most innovative song on here is "Evil Is Even" which is a very strange track that has a didgeridoo effect and a strong beat and exotic instrumental sounds. A great song it is. This is a highly recommended CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful and Certainly Danceable!, April 27, 2000
This review is from: En Tact (Audio CD)
This is the album that inspired me to go to clubs and actually dance instead of being a boring wall flower. This is one of those CD's you cant just listen to as background noise. My advice, listen to this CD loud! The Shamen incorporate so many sounds and beats into their songs it takes a careful ear to find them. A dance club classic of the highest form!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE essential Shamen album. A must have for your CD library, May 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: En Tact (Audio CD)
I first heard this disc back in May '92 in a music store. I asked them who it was and bought it on the spot. This is still their best work to date in my opinion. I liked Boss Drum a lot, didn't much care for En-tact, but I still can listen to this disc for hours without getting sick of it. Great bass and rhythm tracks accompanied by catchy main patterns. If you like techno, trance, synth-pop, or any kind of electronic music, you'll like this. Trust me.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: En-Tact (MP3 Download)
yes, yes, i know they are not techno technically but i played the cassette of this album until the tape too crampled and magnetics comed off if that tells you something.the shamen and jesus jones in my humble opinion were the two greatests bands of the 90's. the shamen lyrics and music very inventive and ahead of the time. move any mountain , and the last track lightspan soundwave my favs.and plus any band who wear fremen costumes in their is ok in my book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still worth a listen after all these years, April 20, 2005
This review is from: En Tact (Audio CD)
While I've never had dinner with these guys, and I think if you judge somebody from having dinner with them then that's completely shallow and to miss the point. Besides, they could have been making a joke with heavy sarcasm. This can happen. I still think this album is great. In places it probably has aged but I think it's done so gracefully. Gems like Make It Mine, Evil Is Even....actually I think it's very strong as an album, a couple of less stellar moments but it's more diverse for a techno album at the time. And hey, this is the American version of the album which is more widely available than the original. Worth a shot if you're not easily put off by dinner conversations. Listen to the samples if you're unsure and then make up your mind
