5.0 out of 5 stars Roberto Carlos at the top of his game
I travelled from Massachusetts to Miami to see this show, along with a friend and my brother who lived in Florida at the time and I did not regret it. Roberto Carlos is still at the top of his game. Vocally, he is still in great form. There is really not much else I can say except that he has accomplished it all during his amazing career. What a singer! I have both...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a high definition concert
I got this blue-ray concert, but I was really desappointed after find out that it was recorder with digital cameras and not high definition cameras, I would had enjoy it better in high definition. Also the cameras were just focusing on Roberto Carlos all of the time when some more shots could be taken from the rest of the musicians and the audience, the backgroud was to...

Vocally, he is still in great form. There is really not much else I can say except that he has accomplished it all during his amazing career. What a singer! I have both the standard DVD and the Blue Ray format of this concert and while the Blue Ray has a better picture, the standard DVD has a better sound. I would encourage anyone to invest in this product as I believe you will not be disappointed. The show was spectacular.

5.0 out of 5 stars He Didn't Know What was Coming......, December 17, 2010

This review is from: Roberto Carlos: En Vivo (DVD)
Please note: Amazon has screwed up again. They indicate this review is from December 17, 2010. Wrong! I wrote it March 1, 2011. Of course informing them of their mistake gets me nowhere.
---------------------

I wrote a review of RC's "Pra Sempre - Ao vivo no Pacaembu" concert in Brasil in 2004 and in it I said I liked that concert better than the "En Vivo" concert in Miami. Well - I've changed my mind. You have to get both of them, and let me tell you why.
They are two very different concerts. He was still deep in grief when he made the "Pra Sempre..." concert. That one is quite reflective and the most serious of any performance I've seen of his. It has more songs (23) but with "En Vivo", made about 3 years later, he is having fun. He didn't know then that his mother would pass while he was on stage in Radio City Music Hall in April,2010, three days before his birthday. Since then, he has remained his reclusive self, except for the annual Christmas concert in Brasil this last December and a carnivale in Rio in his honor this February.
Within this "En Vivo" concert you will see him having a great time - flirting with the audience, grinning throughout and you can tell his heart is light - at last. The songs are in Spanish for his Cuban audience. I must admit I much prefer when he sings in Portugese. At the end of "En Vivo", as he is saying good night, he appears to forget himself and says "Obrigado, obrigado, obrigado!" and quickly switches to "Muchos gracias".
Here are the songs from the "En Vivo" concert: Emociones, Que sera De Ti; Cama Y Mesa; Detalles; Desahogo; El Dia Que Me Quieras; O Calhambeque; Mujer Pequena; Acrostico; Propuesta; Concavo Y Convexo; La Distancia; Amigo; Jesus Cristo followed by encores - Amada Amante; Un gato en las oscuridad (Un Gato Nel Blu) and Yo Solo Quierso (Un Million de amigos).
What made me change my mind about this concert is that I realized I had never seen him have so much fun in a performance before. He's had enough tragedy for one lifetime and takes his friends and family extremely seriously. He cannot hide his feelings and I suspect this is why he stops performing for a length of time after his wife died and again now, after losing his mother. He gave up a long, big contract with Sony after his wife died and clearly she came before anything else in his life - and still does to some degree. He sings "Acrostico", a poem/song he wrote for her after she died. He always plays the piano and says a few words to dedicate it to Maria Rita. How can you not love this man of so many dimensions - who has a heart that he puts out there to share with us. I only hope he decides to return to performing because he is loved across so many continents. As I said in a note to the lucky reviewer who was able to attend this concert - All this man has to do is show up and we will come.

But his songs are amazing, his one of the best latin america's singers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic performance from a Latin Legend, December 2, 2010

After decades of singing, Roberto Carlos continues to impress his audience with that subtle, and yet, penetrating voice. My father used to play his records throughout our childhood and he still sounds the same. This concert took place in the beautiful city of Miami. I highly recommend this DVD to those who have followed Roberto Carlos throughout his career, and to those who are exploring the music of Latin legends such as himself.

After 10 years, Roberto Carlos comes back to USA to record his first DVD alive and in Spanish. In this DVD, he sings his greatest hits and his audience is happy singing with him once again. He still is the king of the "MPB" ("Música Popular Brasileira", in portuguese; "Brazilian Popular Music", in English).

I bought this DVD to be a gift for my mother, she loves this concert. Nice quality and the most important thing, Roberto Carlos is singing a lot, not spending minutes in other things.
