5.0 out of 5 stars Un Agasajo Musical, September 24, 2004
By
German "Gere" (Phoenix, AZ, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: En Vivo (Audio CD)
The CD is great, I give it 5 stars cuz I'm a Live Perfomance Lover, there is energy and great music from track one to sixteen. Now, if you're a dying fan of this band and they are coming to your town, and not only that, they're recording a CD, and you didn't even notice, obviously that pisses anyone off, like my case. Anyway, I'm glad to have gotten this CD, now I know what I missed. The tracks like I said are great, they are:

1. Amores Lejanos (4/5): Second single from their newest album with the same name. The song starts with an amazing acoustic solo, then the song starts.

2. Tequila (3/5): From the Nectar Album, this song is kinda a rock-jazz song, but in this live performance is more rock than anything.

3. Por El Resto (4/5): A classic. Unlike the smooth-rock version of Habitaciones Extrañas, this version sounds heavier. Great song.

4. Tu Cárcel (5/5): Ahh, if you know "El Buki" you will love this cover. It's the first single from the album and it keeps the same feeling from the original one.

5. Mi Primer Día Sin Ti (5/5): A great ballad, just like the ones Marciano Cantero got us so used to.

6. La Muralla Verde (5/5): Their greatest hit (along with Lamento Boliviano). A must of the band. Felipe Staiti burns his guitar on the solo. Suddenly, Felipe takes off his guitar's whammy bar and performs a weird-cool solo (looks like the circus came to town!) anyway, it sounds great. I don't know about the outro, it sounds like Santana's Oye Como Va, but anyway it sounds cool.

7. Mil Horas (4/5): What do we have here? A cover from Argentinean-rock-legend Andres Calamaro. This song was a hit when it was performed by Los Abuelos De La Nada. The cover is great, although it's not pretty known around here.

8. Frances Limón (4/5): Now we have a tribute to Edith Piaf. The French-rock song sounds great, sounds exact to the Amores Lejanos version.

9. Eterna Soledad (5/5): A hit from the Guerra Gaucha album. This one is an acoustic ballad. I don't know, makes you feel like getting a lighter and wave it in the air, careful not to burn any curtains in your house.

10. Ay Dolores! (4/5): Arriba Mexico!! Argentineans playing Rancheras, cool, with mariachi and everything. Staiti's vocal debut.

11. Cordillera (5/5): One of my favorites, starts like a Cumbia, then gets the Andenean-rock feeling from Nectar.

12. Mejor No Hablemos De Amor (4/5): Looks like Staiti really felt motivated that on the tour, he sings and perform those perfect solos on this track.

13. Luz De Día (5/5): Another ballad, this one's more classy and elegant. A great hit from Nectar.

14. Guitarras Blancas (3/5): Dance Time! Altought I feel is less energetic than the version from Traccion Acustica.

15. Lamento Boliviano (6/5): My personal favorite. This song is perfect, if you liked it from Big Bang wait until you hear the 3 minute solo at the end. Staiti you RULE!!

16. El Extraño Del Pelo Largo (4/5): A great song to conclude the concert. The song has energy and a lot of Rock & Roll.

Ok, that was my "short" review. I was gonna write a short sentence, but I thought "Oh, what the heck!". Ok, notice that this is my personal opinion about the songs and it may vary from the ones of other fans. -2004 Copyright@ he, he.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enanitos Verdes become Legendary, December 5, 2004
This review is from: En Vivo (Audio CD)
I am left breathless.
If you are a fan of Enanitos Verdes you should not be reading this. You should have this album.
This 'En Vivo' live album is quite easily one of the best spanish rock albums ever.
Each version in this album is better than the original and the feeling of inmersion is simply amazing. From 'Tu Carcel', to 'Lamento Boliviano', to the classy 'Luz de Dia', this album excels. It has become my favorite cd and I havent gone one day withough listening to it since I got it. If I had to recommend ONE album it would be this one.
Its THAT good. And better.

5.0 out of 5 stars At last the first real rock band in spanish, February 6, 2006
This review is from: En Vivo (Audio CD)
I usually hear 1970's rock music and is it the first time that I hear a real band in spanish that can match this kind of music (era). This band has something special. This CD is better than original ones (a rare exception for me). Cantero has an excellent voice and Staiti has nothing to envy Clapton (Cream),Andy Latimer(Camel) or even Santana. I strongly recommends this group specially this CD to all rockers especially to latins.
