MARÍA INÉS HITATEGUY se especializó en Educación Pre-escolar en su país natal, Uruguay, de donde emigró a Minnesota (Estados Unidos) hace más de veintisiete años. Es Master en Administración de Negocios Internacionales y también en Desarrollo Humano. Actualmente, es administradora del departamento de intérpretes de una cadena de hospitales de Saint Paul y Minneapolis. Por sus logros profesionales, ha recibido los premios Outstanding Achievement (1988) en el área de negocios de la YWCA de Saint Paul y Virginia McKnight Binger Award (2001) en el área de servicios humanos de la Fundación McKnight. Además, ha trabajado como voluntaria en la formación de líderes parroquiales dentro de la comunidad hispana de Saint Paul y Minneapolis. Desde hace varios años, dirige un grupo de apoyo y liderazgo para mujeres hispanas en la parroquia de Saint James.

María Inés Hitateguy was a teacher specializing in pre-school education when she immigrated from Uruguay 27 years ago. She spoke no English. Now she has a Masters degree in international management and a Master of Arts in Human Development, and she manages interpreter services for hospitals in St. Paul/Minneapolis metro area. In 1988 she received the Outstanding Achievement Award in Business from the Saint Paul YWCA and in 2001 the Virginia McKnight Binger Award in Human Services from The McKnight Foundation. She has worked to develop leaders within the Latino community and build bridges with people of other races. She founded classes through St. James Catholic Church to help Latino women to find their true selves and call forth their gifts and talents, and to accompany them as they take on individual commitments.
