Reasonably good hardware, lasted for 14 months. Noticed a gradual decline in throughput in the 14th month when without forced reboots (usual scourge of routers) - so I update to the latest available firmware (v. 1.3) at the product website. This new firmware version, interestingly, also has a firmware auto-update feature - so it helpfully asks me if I wanted to auto-update to an even newer firmware (v. 1.4). The geek inside is suckered in - and the router never finishes booting after the "auto-update".

Calls to tech support - "Too bad, its 2 months out of warranty, buy a new one". Tech support didn't even know they had a firmware up on the product website that auto-updates. I had bought this product because Engenius supposedly makes enterprise-grade products.

Recommend staying away.

Not impressed. Heard rave reviews about this thing. We have about 9 wireless devices on the network, it crashes everyday and I have to reboot it. Loved the "cisco" feeling admin interface and the way you apply changes. Just not reliable enough for my tech family.

This is a nice fast router. I have a 100MBs connection and this router handles traffic just fine. It has a bunch of neat little features like USB/Cloud sharing.

I've had the router start to 'lock-up' on me and it required a reboot. Upon reboot - all DNS traffic attempts to run to the hard-coded DNS servers that appear to be in China (run a ping/tracert test). Kinda strange right? This has only happened a few times in the year or so that I've owned the router.

Good router / fast and easy to setup and use. Neat features.

For a generic wireless router setup it is simple to setup. I wanted to use more like an access point. This is much more difficult then other routers but the instructions are there you just have to look for them.

I do not have an AC capable client so I'm not sure performance wise how well that works. For N I get about 100 Mbits. The range is inconsistent I can get access a whole block a way but not in my garage. I did not have that problem before. I think the way this is designed (because of where the vents are) it wants to be wall mounted. Not sure if this thing will die early if I leave it sit on my desk. The internet port is only 100 Mbits. Some internet providers could possibly deliver more speed then that so don't use this as a firewall if you have one of those ISPs. The other ports are gbit capable.

Updated to the latest router software from the previous version. Bricked my router. I have never managed to brick a router and I have maybe half dozen of them over the years. factory reset do not help. Holding the reset button for 60 seconds does not help.
