3.0 out of 5 stars How Doing Diversity Works, June 22, 2009

This review is from: Enacting Diverse Learning Environments: Improving the Climate for Racial/Ethnic Diversity in Higher Education (J-B ASHE Higher Education Report Series (AEHE)) (Paperback)
I purchased this book to generate discussion with the Diversity Council in our institution. Usually, these groups are made up of individuals from diverse backgrounds, their allies, and a staff person or two with an interest in diversity issues. The truth is that these people may be the right persons to have involved in raising awareness of diversity within the institution but they are not diversity experts.

Enacting Diverse Learning Environments reminds us that making diversity a priority in institutions of higher education requires committed leadership, diverse faculty and staff, attention to issues of campus climate and attention to social interactions among groups in and outside of class.

The book is easy to read, has good case studies, a strong bibliography and a stellar review panel
