I've been an Enchant fan for only a short time, maybe a year and a half, but within that short time, I've heard just about everything they've done. Needless to say, I'm now an avid fan....

1.0 out of 5 stars failure in production?
well folks I'm a huge fan of Enchant but this DVD is a big disappointment to me. I was looking forward to the DVD and bought it right away. Don't do the same, the sound is awful, the sound in the DVDmenu is good but once You start the concert the sound gets blurry, distant and certainly not clear as it should be. This must be a production f**k up. I can't imagine the boys...

I've been an Enchant fan for only a short time, maybe a year and a half, but within that short time, I've heard just about everything they've done. Needless to say, I'm now an avid fan....

To the DVD shall we???....

I was very impressed.

Here, Enchant proves they aren't into all of the outrageous stage effects or visuals, instead they let the music do all of the talking. There is no other band I know of that displays all of it's parts equally like Enchant does. All of them are in very fine form here live, and in it's rawest form. It's really quite amazing how creative these guys are....

I'm watching it right now as I type, and I must say after hearing the CD first, this is a much better recording in my opinion. It's not as bombastic as the CD, and has a more balanced overall sound. Whoever fixed this did a great job with the production...

The performance is near flawless. Master Guitarist Douglas Ott is a wizard of an axeman, and is really cool to watch. I love his tone, and his style. A truly underappreciated guitarist in the world of music...

Vocalist Ted Leonard does a very respectable job keeping pace here too. His job is probably the hardest, and I'm not at all disappointed in his ability to pull it off in a live setting. I can't complain at all. He's another vital piece to the Enchant sound, his emotion displayed here live makes you realize how important music is to these guys. Great job Ted!!!

I love the set list too. All of Enchant's greatest songs are here for the most part. There may be a few they left out, or a few you'd rather not hear, but all in all, a very solid set list. No complaints at all....

All of the members of Enchant have something special to offer the listener, and here, on "Live At Last", you get to witness what a band that is brimming with creativity is capable of....

A TRUE MASTERPIECE....ENCHANT YOURSELF.

4.0 out of 5 stars At last, November 5, 2004
This review is from: Enchant - Live at Last (DVD)
This DVD was done with a pretty low budget, so there aren't a lot of fancy extras, and there's no 5.1 sound mix. Despite this, it's well worth buying for fans of Enchant. The performance is excellent, and the band are clearly having a great time doing the show. The atmosphere is very casual and fun.

One of the highlights for me was 'What to Say'. After vocalist Ted Leonard explains what he wrote the song about, he goes on to deliver one of the most powerful and emotional vocal performances I've ever seen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good indeed, February 13, 2005

At long last I received the new and obviously fixed DVD of one of the more deserving bands in this universe. Enchant have put out above average music for way over 10 years now and haven't earned the respect they deserve yet. Maybe with this concert release things might change some. One would hope so. Recorded in a rather small club in Oakland in front of some of their biggest fans in the US they perform for over 150 minutes and cover every one of their albums equally. The band consists of 5 extremely talented musicians and play as a very tight unit. There are plenty highlights like 'sinking sand', 'progtology', 'my enemy', 'break' and 'seeds of hate' to name just a few. In addition they include a second disc with extensive band interviews and each member gets his own little section to explain equipment, influences etc. They seem to be very likable, humble guys who respect their place in the scene without complaining about the lack of overall success.
Only negative point for me is the lack of sound options(!).
That said I also need to point out that the sound quality is very, very good, especially considering the minimal budget the band would have had available.
I would also question the strange selection of fans interviewed.
But that's only my opinion.
All in all a very worth while purchase for anyone who digs melodic prog rock of the finest quality played by fine musicians and a great vocal performance by Ted Leonard.
Well done, guys!

5.0 out of 5 stars Enchant's 1st DVD - and ABSOLUTELY worth the wait....., January 31, 2005

Well, I know at the end of last year when the Live at Last DVD release date came and went, many fans of the band were dissapointed to find out about the audio problems and the delay for the DVD....

But ENCHANT fans, wait no longer - and REJOICE. The DVD of last March's IMusicast 2 1/2 hour show is here - and YES it is definitely worth the wait. No audio glitches to be found anywhere - for those longtime fans who have never gotten a chance to see this amazing and completely underappreciated band live, you will be truly happy with this live concert. 2/3rds of the band's catalog of songs covering each and every one of their albums - including one song never before played live until this past year - the stirring and absolutely touching WHAT TO SAY - Ted Leonard, already in great vocal form throughout this DVD, truly opens himself up to the audience and sings from his very soul on this track - his performance is simply and utterly amazing.

Each and every other member of the band is in top form here as well on this DVD - from Doug Ott's solos, at times blistering, and at other times soulfully and soothingly melodic, to newest member Bill Jenkins great turn on the keyboards (watch for his magic nose... you'll see...), to Sean Flanigan on the kit - I was truly dissapointed when Paul Craddick left the band years back - but Sean is an INCREDIBLY gifted player who has really made the drumming spot in Enchant HIS OWN. There is no question that he belongs in this band. Watching him work his sticks in this DVD, you can't help but feel his passion..... and your eardrums won't be able to help but feel his skill and power either!! And last but in no way at all least, Ed Platt, The Bassman Extraordinaire, on the bass guitar. Slapping, finger tapping, laying down the thick foundation for all these wonderful songs - it is all there and it is glorious. The beginning of Under Fire, the breakdowns in Progtology, his spots in Sinking Sand.... you can't help but love to watch the guy play.

Any Enchant fan will be overjoyed by this live DVD - whether you have never seen this band live before or if you were lucky enough to actually be there at this show, as I was. And hopefully folks who don't know that much about the band or have only heard a few songs will take the opportunity to be able to watch the band in a LIVE environment and pick up this DVD - DO IT - you won't be sorry.

I waited almost a full year for the DVD of this show to be released...

And Yes, it is absolutely worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Impressive Show, August 18, 2005

This review is from: Enchant - Live at Last (DVD)
Having heard only "Juggling 9 or Dropping 10" and "Tug of War" I'm not very familiar with Enchant so this was kind of an impulse buy. It certainly peaks my curiosity to check out all their CD's.

This is a two-disc set - disc one has the entire show, 23 songs, 2 ½ hours of live footage with nothing edited out - disc two includes band and fan interviews and a slideshow. The music blends pop, rock, and progressive styles with plenty of great vocals and incredible playing. The video is clear, the editing not too choppy; the audio is good but includes only a stereo mix. Highlights... "Sinking Sand" (great tune), "Monday" (catchy), "Progtology" (smoking instrumental), "What to Say" (moving) and "Oasis" (stunning).

This is definitely worth a listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars one of my favorite bands!, February 23, 2010

This is just a great band, putting on a fantastic live performance. It is a nice recording and I have enjoyed watching it many times, as opposed to once or twice and then it just sits in the collection after that. I may have chosen a little different set list for them, (wish a band would let me do that just once) but these guys are outstanding musicians and writers and all their songs are extremely enjoyable, especially watching them performed live. Ted Leonard is one of my favorite singers and if you enjoy "Enchant", you should purchase the CD from his other band "Thought Chamber".

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally Live!, April 9, 2005
This review is from: Enchant - Live at Last (DVD)
I was an early "Enchant" adopter: some years ago I was looking for some good new music, so I started looking to Magna Carta CDs, first of them Cairo and Enchant.
I was very impressed by both but while Cairo had a short production history, Enchant continued to impress on every CD they produce.
They are technically speaking "Masters" on their own instruments, but what they have is "Style": you can listen to every song and say "It belongs to Enchant!", and it is really important in the world of music - and heavy / hard / prog, where often a group is often too similar to another.
I was really curious about listening them live, and finally ... here they are!
And what a live band!
The singer - Ted Leonard - has a very distinctive high voice, and renders live really well, impressive!
The guitarist - Douglas Ott - is a BIG guitarist, has the right riff in the right moment, and sometimes reminds me his first producer, Steve Rothery/Marillion guitarist, cool!
The engine of the band - the bassist Ed Platt - is FANTASTIC!!! What a style, what a presence! Sometimes seems to hear Geddy Lee/Rush !
The drummer and keyboard are not the original ones of the first CDs, but they are really impressive.
The live show is long enough to cover all the history of the band (280 minutes!!!), and I WANT MORE every listening I do!!!
There's only one thing I don't like of the DVDs: the production.
It's quite good, but my NTSC version (I was looking for the PAL one, but didn't find it) has an annoying up/down volume on music that goes on for the entire show...
Final words to every music listener: BUY IT AND DON'T COPY IT!
If we want these good musicians continue to play for us, let them be payed for their incredible show!
