5.0 out of 5 stars I can't believe it!
I'm shocked! I look this video up and I find not even a picture of the video, and a notice that it goes in and out of print! I saw this video a thousand times, and it isn't just about a boy who learns something from an old man- It's so much more than that! It's about a painter who is granted a gift of magic and the ability to talk to the forest animals. He saves the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Outraged by price, see P.S. at end
I saw this movie as a young boy and loved it. In my later years I've been looking for it so I could see it again. Now that I have found it I won't be buying it. I don't know what quality this DVD is, but as much as I would like to have this movie it is not worth the price. You are totally out of your minds to charge over $100 for this DVD. Anyone who would pay this price...

5.0 out of 5 stars Enchanted Forest Review by Win and Jan Severn, January 4, 2001

This is a family film, a heart-warming story loved by children and enjoyed by adults as well. Once considered a family classic, approved for showing in elementary schools in the 40s and 50s, this film still has great meaning. The trained animals show off to the delight of all ages. Behind the interesting story line is a conservation theme that old-growth trees should not be carelessly harvested to the detriment of the forest creatures.

I enjoyed this movie trememdously. It is a story filled with nature, animals and one adorable little boy and his dog. The scenes have a magical, dream-like quality as an old hermit who lives in the forest and teaches the little boy to be gentle and loving toward all living things. Lessons are taught, but the movie is so charming that you don't realize you are learning something. I think even today's children (the movie was made in 1945) will appreciate it.

You can't go wrong watching this movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gentle, Kindly, Family Movie, April 5, 2005
This review is from: The Enchanted Forest (VHS Tape)
If the world were populated with more people like the kindly old man in this movie, everything would be all right. This is a movie that remembers what it is like to be a child. This movie never talks down to children, it treats them with respect and love. A wonderful tale about caring about Nature and loving the forest. In light of todays movies that exploit children as nothing more than a means to make money, This movie, Enchanted Forest is such a breath of fresh air. Watch it with your little ones and remember what it felt like to be very small, when everything had a magical quality about it.

Since I have not seen this DVD I can't really rate this product. The original movie is worth 5 stars; however, I rate this product only 1 for the lousy price.

P.S.--After posting this review I discovered a link to purchase this movie from Turner Classic Movies. I clicked the link and found this title for $14.99 plus shipping; much more reasonable. The purchase actually goes through Movies Unlimited. I would suggest that you try [..] and search for this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars The enchanted forest, May 20, 2011

I would love to have a copy of this movie more than any movie out there. It was a beautiful movie about an unusual elderly man who lived in the forest and could commune with trees and the natural elements. The woodcutters tried to kill the dear old man, The woodcutters tried to cut the trees down to land on this angelic old man but the trees who also could sing like angels refused to hurt the old man and instead fell the direction towards the evil woodcutters.
This is a timely movie about being in the natural realms and communing with nature. As a child, I treasured this movie and think about it often. How much does it cost and how can I get a copy? Olga

Due to its age, this video is not perfect, but it is an interesting look into probably one of the first stories concerning taking care of our planet. I love it and have bought several copies to send to those I felt would be interested.

I have been looking for a copy of this movie since videos first came available to the general public. It has always eluded me. I saw it repeatedly on TV when I was young ( in the 50s and 60s). I was then one of my favorite movies. The pricing I have found on the black and white version is OUTRAGEOUS! I am also not partial to colorized movies. I prefer them in the original black and white. But this is a charming movie. It is about empowerment of self by kind and wise mentors. It is magical. It has everything you could want in a movie that entrances both children and adults.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hope for seeing Enchanted Forest, December 19, 2009
This review is from: Enchanted Forest (DVD)
I too sent away for a video of this wonderful, dear, film and it was very poor quality. There is hope though. Go to Turner Movie Classics website and ask them to show it. They have a good, restored, copy of this film and they do show it periodically. If enough of you write, they are pretty good about honoring your request. Good luck and don't forget to listen to the trees!!
