5.0 out of 5 stars This is new age piano at it's BEST
Kevin's music is magical - it transforms you to a different place, which is the intent of this type of music. The major difference from this CD to all the other new age crap that is out there is that this guy can really play, and the emotions that he is trying to capture with each piece really works. 2.0 out of 5 stars Unremarkable
This album may have the most beautiful cover in the history of records, but the music is pure bloodless and entirely forgettable. There is absolutely nothing on the entire disc that is memorable in any way.I wanted to like these soft and romantic piano works but there is nothing that bears repeated listening.I suggest Bach,Chopin or debussy if you want some real keyboard...

Kevin's music is magical - it transforms you to a different place, which is the intent of this type of music. The major difference from this CD to all the other new age crap that is out there is that this guy can really play, and the emotions that he is trying to capture with each piece really works. I have been a new age fan before it was called 'new age' (early 1980's), and am a huge fan of all the Windham Hill and Narada artists that sound like this.

The REAL difference here is that there is no new age ploy behind this CD - Kevin is truly trying to bring you into the 'Enchanted Garden', and the tasteful additions of guitar and orchestra are well done and not cheesy. This CD will not turn anyone into a new age 'convert' - however anyone looking for a CD to really mellow themselves out after a hard day at work, or just looking for something soothing that is not like the new age crap in the stores, look no further than this gem. For those fans of David Lanz, Tom Barabas, Liz Story or William Aaberg, you will be right at home with this CD.

This CD is one of the most beautiful recordings that I own. Kevin Kern is a very talented artist to be able to compose & play each beautiful piece. I now own all of his CD's. I asked for them for my Mother's Day gift after hearing the samples. I have a huge collection of New Age & Kevin Kern is one of my favorites!

By A Customer
This review is from: In the Enchanted Garden (Audio CD)
I bought this CD with the recommendation of my friend (he purchased online from Amazon). All of the 10 music tracks in this CD are really beautiful and enchanting, especially track 3: 'The Enchanted Garden', and track 1: 'Through the Arbor'. The best and most beautiful music I've ever heard! Buy this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'd never heard of him..., July 20, 2005
This review is from: In the Enchanted Garden (Audio CD)
...until I read these reviews, then I bought the album and was hooked from the first four notes of the first song. I'm a huge Jim Brickman, Windham Hill and Narada fan from way back, but had somehow missed Kevin Kern. His styling is simply beautiful. You people are going to keep me broke ordering piano music!

After reading the reviews, I purchased the CD under the assumption that most pieces are piano solos, but I was surprised to find that every piece is accompanied by other instruments. I was slightly disappointed. Nevertheless, the music is beautiful and very soothing. My favorite is "Through the Arbor", but they are all good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Captivating, March 17, 2001
This review is from: In the Enchanted Garden (Audio CD)
I was walking PAST a local CD shop when I stopped in my tracks when I heard a very beautiful and soothing piano piece played by the shop. It was track no. 2 Sundial Dreams. I know the title piece now because I walked in the shop and bought a copy of the cd immediately... with no regrets! ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing "cheese-y" about it!, July 2, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: In the Enchanted Garden (Audio CD)
A very lovely early Kevin Kern CD. Having been a fan for many years, this was my favorite for quite sometime. The simplicity of the tunes on this CD is what makes them so beautiful and memorable.
It is easy to see that Mr. Kern should be, if he isn't already, composing music for film, as much of his work, particularly the later pieces (i.e. Summer Daydreams) have an incredible cinematic quality to them that is unlike any other New Age artist. A quality that is rarely found within the genre.
His latest CD, The Winding Path, is by far my MOST favorite. The luscious melodies creative a most lovely landscape for the listener to marvel and behold. Bravo, Mr. Kern! Your music has truly evolved and grown over the years and I am forevermore a fan! I look forward with great anticipation to your future endeavors!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Invitation to the Enchanted Garden, April 28, 2003
This review is from: In the Enchanted Garden (Audio CD)
My first pleasant encounter with Kevin Kern's music happened two years ago in Johor Bahru, a Peninsular Malaysia's southern border city facing Singapore. I was then in a CD shop and immediatedly captured by the soothing music flowing inside and holding up my footstep from moving away. I had no way but to ask the shop assistant and found out it was "Through the Arbor."

"Through the Arbor" is definitely a landmark piece of Kevin Kern's music. Last month, March 2003, when Kevin Kern started to play this piece in the concert hall of Esplande, Singapore, the audience gave it a full hall applaud. It does not mean other pieces of Kevin Kern are less good. In this particular CD, "Sundial Dreams" and "The Enchanted Garden" are also very delicate and beautiful.

With these pieces, Kevin Kern gives you a warm invitation to the garden that he takes care of with music. And you will be more than willing to take up the invitation now and then to let your mind and heart relax.
