5.0 out of 5 stars A magical page turner October 12, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought this book on a hunch, thinking it looked like fun. Turned out to be even better than I expected. The writing is superb, really polished plot and characters. The ideas are smart too as this book is the essence of fiction, creating a whole new world to get lost in. I liked the assortment of magic, different spells, power levels and how it played into the tale, which had plenty of surprises. All of the characters are believable and felt real, even though their experiences are anything but ordinary.
Very fun book. Definitely a page turner. I'm ready for the sequel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fresh - UNIQUE - F U N ----- A must read! October 8, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
If you're reading the reviews for Enchantment, you can tell that this book is amazing, truly a rare gem. Also, if you're reading these reviews, that means you're considering reading the book for yourself. My recommendation? Purchase a copy now and use your review-reading time for Enchantment-reading time. Besides, the reviews ALL say the same thing. AMAZING! Go ahead, read the sample pages. You'll see what I mean.

I read a ton of YA fiction and believe me, it is hard to find such a fun, exciting, YA fantasy love story with a unique story line in today's market but Charlotte Abel has defied the odds with Enchantment.

Where else will you get Hillbilly-style magic, BMX racing, true love, a chastity curse, and much more, all packed into the same story?! You've got to check it out. Just don't plan on doing anything until you're done though, because you won't want to put it down.

A lot of books fall short when it comes to characters but not this one. From the MC to the minor players, you will love them all.

Thank you Charlotte for making this such a fun read! Now, if I could just convince you to stop sleeping and eating so you could devote all your time to finishing the sequel... :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Maghon Thomas's Reviews > Enchantment October 25, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Ok so first, I'm a little in love with both Josh and this story! Second, I don't know if I feel more sorry or frustrated for Channie. I really enjoyed this and even better I got it from read 2 review! I have nothing but good things to say, except for Channie's parents, who are pretty horrible, but if they weren't horrible the story wouldn't be so heart warming, so I guess that means I only have good things to say! I am even more happy to find out there is another book to continue this wonderful path! YAY! with all the twists and turns and total punch-you-in-the-gut surprises, I did not put this book down! Literally! I opened my email with the link at 9:30 this morning and it's midnight, and I'm already finished, and these hours included my 2 jobs and 2 college classes! And the writing made it so easy to just fly right through it! So extra high fives from me and thank you again for the opportunity! I WILL be buying the next one!

5.0 out of 5 stars A heart fluttering page turner!!! September 21, 2011
By Shannon
Format:Kindle Edition
There are so many young adult paranormal books about vampires, werewolves, and shifters, it hard to come across a fresh perspective in this genre.

This book took me to places I've never been. The author referred to her main character, Channie, as a mage. The closest relation to a mage (a magical person) would be a witch or wizard. The author wove a tale that is original and enchanting to say the least, that's not typical of novels involving witchcraft.

I loved the originality of the characters. Channie is a strong character who doesn't let others push her around. She and her family are from the south and are often referred to by others as hillbillies. I personally liked the Dad with his 'hillbilly twang' and because of all of his flaws. It was because of his problems that the whole family was forced to move to a northern town with magically disabled people called Empties. Empties are just your average everyday human without magic.

Channie has to learn a whole other way of life around Empties. It is here, we are introduced to Josh. (*swoon*) Josh is the guy every girl dreams of. True and loyal, he is from the very beginning even when he is only her friend. I love how he is with Channie despite all their challenges. Although there is not the typical love triangle, I personally have to wonder about Hunter. I won't say anymore about him.

Besides the budding romance, Channie and her family live in fear of the danger her father brought to their family. She also has to deal with consequences her parents place on her to keep her from ending up like her sister. This puts her and Josh in more than a few predicaments.

All of these elements together make for a page turning interesting read. Once I was drawn in, I was unable to put the book down until the end. I also thoroughly enjoyed the teaser for the next installment in the back. I really recommend this book. You won't regret the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars How could you not like it? September 20, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
You know, I love fantasy, I really do. Romance, however...not so much. But Charlotte Abel gave me a copy of her book to read and I decided to give it a try. I am very glad I did because this is a touching, funny, magical story with more heart and character than most YA stories out there. Why this author has not been discovered by a major publishing house is a mystery to me, but my hope is not that she is discovered by a publisher, but that YOU, the reader, discover HER.

5.0 out of 5 stars a must read January 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I just finished the book last nite and this was the first time I had a chance to get my review written.
I have told one of my close friends about the book for her to read. I am so looking forward to the next book. I am going to read this book again while I wait for the next book to come out.
I am not good as writing reviews. I will tell you if I enjoyed it or not. I won't tell anything about the book because I was the reader to get the same feeling for the book like I did. Reviews that give book information to me I work read them because it take out all the excitement for me to find out in the book.

More About the Author

Charlotte Abel was born and raised in Oklahoma where she met her soulmate, Pete. She chased him to Boulder, Colorado and finally convinced him they were meant to be together forever. They've raised three kids, two ferrets, three dogs and countless hamsters -- and are still happily married.

She's in love with "real" life and paranormal romance. When she's not reading or writing, Charlotte enjoys hiking, bicycling and primitive archery (although she's never shot at anything other than a target!)

The final book of The Channie Series, "Finding Valor," is now available!

Look for "River's Remorse," the second book of "The Sanctuary Series" in 2014
