Years of imagination and magical play,
By Lune Axelsen (In the Mountains, MT USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Enchantmints Fairy forest Lodge (Toy)
My 4 year old daughter got this from her grandparents for Christmas and hands down it is her favorite gift. In a world with battery powered, electronic, sensorial overloaded toys, this little house is an exellent buy and worth the money not only because of durability and quality, but because she can use it for many years to come. Perhaps it will be a toy that will be passed down to her children. It is not excessively over-large but just the right size, sitting about 18 inches high and 14 inches wide at the base and it is very easy for my daughter to use.
The only critism I can possibly come up with is that my husband had a bit of a time putting it together, but it was late at night on Christmas eve and we were exhusted. All in all, a wonderful toy well worth the effort.

My daughter was ready for a doll house that would inspire her imagination and creative play, so everyone in the family pitched in to help Santa bring this all home for Christmas 2009. We have the Fairy Forest Lodge, green puzzle base, fairy dolls, and all of furniture accessory sets, except for the Forest Bridge & River set. If I had to recommend just one of the acessory sets to go with this house, choose the Fairy Forest Kitchen & Bedroom Set, and of course the fairy dolls themselves. Please look for my separate reviews for these items.
The lodge itself is larger than you might imagine. At almost 15" across, so it's a very nice size. The lodge pieces are solid wood and were easy to assemble. Our base piece was the tiniest bit warped, so rocks a bit when sitting on a table, but our daughter playes with the house on the floor most of the time, which has a rug so we don't mind. The stairs can be removed and positioned wherever you'd like them. The 2 doors have a wooden dowel pin that holds them in place, and they open and close easly. The dowel pins can be pulled out easily, though, so I wish they had real hinges. My daughter loves this toy and it's been a lot of fun watching her play make-believe with it. She moves the furniture and dolls from room to room, in and out of the doors, moves them up and down the stairs, and it's nice that she can pull the stairs away for easier access to the house. This is a wonderful toy and I think it will last a long time, and someday we'll be able to pass it along to another child who will love it as well. PUZZLE BASE: My personal preference on the green puzzle base (purchased separately) is to skip it. My daughter is 3, is VERY good at working puzzles, but these big pieces all look very similar and fit together similarily, and just frustrate her. Also with the puzzle base in place, the lodge and base takes up a LOT of space, measureing about 2 feet across, and it's challenging to turn the house when the puzzle base is there. If you are 'enchanted' by the green surrounding the house, buy a nice thick piece of green felt to serve as a play mat, or have a crafty friend or family member stitch a little play quilt with earthy green, brown, and blue batik fabrics. OTHER INFO: Please visit the Enchantmints website for photos of the Fairy Forest Lodge in action with all of the accessories. The house might look a bit plain here without anything with it, but the whole series of pieces together is a stunning display. Amazon no longer has the collection photos displayed, as they made it confusing to know that everything is sold separately. Also, I appreciated the minimal packaging this company uses for their products. Within the box for the Forest Lodge, the wood pieces were all neatly stacked on a piece of cardboard and wrapped in shrink wrap. No styrofoam molds or frustrating wire twist ties. All of the acessory sets came in little boxes without any additonal (and unecessary) packaging. HOW REFRESHING!

this is absolutely magical.
the treehouse is sturdy and comes flat pack with EASY assembly instuctions. the steps are movable so your child won't be stuck with just one layout. this is the kind of toy you can see lasting for your children's children someday. i recommend adding on the furniture sets, small baskets and i subsituted a set of kathe kruse fairies.
