Great stuff, September 25, 2009

I first encountered the music of Jamelao in Rio de Janeiro in 1983 when one of his big band style hits from the 50's, "Eta Dor Do Cotavelo", was resurrected for some reason and was big on the radio that summer.
Jamelao's older music is very much in a big band style with lots of horns but not quite like anything you've probably heard in that genre.
His older work also includes some samba songs and his newer stuff is more samba based.
Really great stuff, especially if you're a little burnt out and want to hear something fresh.
I saw him in a small club in Rio in 2000 and he was as good as ever.
