Can't see the cards,

The eye candy abounds with this new version. However, in blackjack and let it ride, it is difficult to read the dealer's cards. For some unknown reason the card size of the dealer's hand is about half that of the players hand causing mistakes in reading what the dealer has. In blackjack, the Card Game version allowed you to use the keyboard for repeat bet, stand, hold, split and surrender, which is especially handy. You can't use the keyboard in this new version and it slows everything down to a crawl. I like my action fast just like at the real casino.
The slot machines are greatly outmatched by the Masque Publishing slot games also sold on Amazon. The slots with this casino game aren't actual slot games used by casinos and the difference shows to anyone who has ever really played a live slot machine in the casino. In the Casino card games you get the same characters that were in Hoyle's Card Games and some are funny and good, others are completely annoying. At least you get to pick which ones you want to play with in this new version, so that helps. The other feature that is missing from all blackjack software is the ability to choose your position at the table. No one likes playing "second base" all the time.

Stick with the old version. New and improved just didn't happen with this. This is the last year I plan on buying any of the Hoyle products.

Major bugs on Mac Version,

I'll make this brief.
In craps, the game won't let you place an odds bet. Those familiar with craps will know that's the entire point of playing the game. Also, if you place a "Don't Come" bet, your bet will disappear after the next number is rolled, instead of being placed on the board. So, you can't even play without odds. I've owned this game for an hour, and I've noticed these major flaws in the game. And, of course, there is no one to contact to address this issue. They send you to a website where you can't find where to get help. I am using a new iMac, so processor speed is not an issue. I'm following the game rules -- I've checked the settings and followed the game instructions. It just doesn't work. And, no, I'm not using a new operating system. If I had any confidence that a patch would be released, or if I could contact anyone, I would keep the game at least for the roulette wheel or video blackjack. But I am disappointed that such a potentially great game was released with these major errors. How can you sell a craps game without the ability to place bets? Mac users stay away from this one.

A Day & Night At The Hoyle Palace,
By Perksy (Midwest, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: HOYLE Casino (2010) (DVD-ROM)
I have this game for close to a week now and got it at a local store. For the most part, it is a really awesome game. The game includes all the characters from the Hoyle Card game casino Blackjack ( Eddie, Joe, Marcus, Nigel, Tommy, Michele, Kelly, Anne, Yvonne ) and some new characters ( I don't remember all the names, I just remember Greg and Jen) that were not in the Card Game disc. If you already have Card Game on your pc, you won't have to redo your Face Creator on the Casino game, because somehow your face transfers over as long as you use the exact name and exact spelling from the Card game.
It has various table, slots, and horse racing and Keno. Even various poker styles. The only negative is that it does not explain how to write in your bet for the horse racing game, so be not surprised if you cannot play the horse game. The characters are not as talkative or as lively as they were in the Card Game version, but my recommendations for characters are Nigel, Marcus, Joe, Anne, and Kelly, in that order. Nigel and Marcus, especially Nigel, are so comical. And when choosing your voice, beware that different voices say different things, so when picking a voice for youself, don't just go for sound, but what they speak as well! So grab that grub and choice beverage, and enjoy a "night" out whenever! You can even enjoy this game with a person you know if you want.

Although this is version 2010, it does not work with my 2009 operating system: Windows 7. Granted it does not list Windows 7 as a compatible operating system; I assumed that since my older Hoyle games work on Windows 7, this newer version would too. No.

Worst Yet,

Hoyle bombed this year. This is by far the worst that Hoyle has produced for 2010. I wish I still had my 2008 programs as for me they were the best yet. Trying yearly to be the best is not always good as some products cannot be improved on. Just keep a perfect product and just update it to run on the new OS's.

I am not impressed with the quality of the game. The 2006 version was better. It is always loading and that takes time. I had complained and they sent a replacement and it was a little better. When exiting the game you get a noise similar to that when you make an error while working on your computer. The screen will go totally black for a few seconds and then it goes back to normal. Bottom line is that it is wierd but it works.
Richard NB: It was great dealing with Amazon. They were fast, efficient and handled my original complaint with class and professionalism.

The winnings numbers are too small. There should be more bonus games in the slot games.

I have Windows Vista and this product is supposedly compatible with that operating system. However, I could not get the program to load, even after trying numerous times. I have returned the product and have yet to receive a replacement.
