Product Description

From Children's Software Revue® -- "Subscribe Now!"

The Sesame Street gang hosts five activity areas in this early learning program. Within each area are several activities that generally become more difficult as the child plays. There are letter and number activities, word building games, listening challenges and a limited art area. Our testers particularly enjoyed making silly sentences and then watching them acted out by real kids on video. Other good activities include "People in Your Neighborhood" where children watch full screen videos of a baker, teacher, reporter and so on. In general, this is a likable program, especially with its fantastic license and characters and its terrific graphics and animation. There's good depth of content (several of the games branch on and on), but there's no overall goal to keep kids playing. Unfortunately, the characters also talk too much and overuse praise, and there's no way to click through all this unnecessary commentary. You're getting a lot of content for your twenty dollars, however (20 activities total) and the experience closely matches the television show. Copyright © 2001 Children's Software Revue

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun! Good skill development, September 17, 2002

This review is from: Sesame Street Preschool (CD-ROM)
While this is not my favorite Sesame Street software, it does offer some new skills such as sentance structure, careers and math sorting. The movie clips are great fun and the program runs really well. My 2 year old can watch it forever and the 4 year old gets a little bored with it. It covers a lot of areas shapes, letters, numbers, phonics, colors plus an art program. It is definately worth the money.

1.0 out of 5 stars No Sound Under Windows XP and No Fix, February 17, 2003

This review is from: Sesame Street Preschool (CD-ROM)
Encore claims that the software was written prior to Windows XP yet the software was released as a new title well after Windows XP was available. If you visit the company website they only apologize but do not offer a fix.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Activities, Poor Usability, February 12, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Sesame Street Preschool (CD-ROM)
I love the activities, but the poor usability makes it agonizing to play. Transitions, humor sequences, explanations, etc. are all very long (30-60 seconds), and you can't click through them. You don't even get a cursor until the sequence is done, and you can't Esc to exit the game. A minute is a very long time to go between clicks!
