5.0 out of 5 stars Tutoring with Math Advantage 2005
I have read the previous reviews:
- As far as the 2001 issue, I cannot address it. I don't own 2001.
- On the quality issue, the main issue was the need to reset the video driver because of the operating system on the user's computer. Having built my own computers, this was not an issue for me, but could be a show-stopper for others. Once the video driver is...

1.0 out of 5 stars Encode Math Advantage - buggy poor quality
Don't waste your money. The installation didn't even work on my machine. Pretty crappy quality control considering this is just about the same software they packaged a couple of years ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tutoring with Math Advantage 2005, February 20, 2010
This review is from: Math Advantage 2005 (CD-ROM)
I have read the previous reviews:
- As far as the 2001 issue, I cannot address it. I don't own 2001.
- On the quality issue, the main issue was the need to reset the video driver because of the operating system on the user's computer. Having built my own computers, this was not an issue for me, but could be a show-stopper for others. Once the video driver is set correctly for the program, there are no more issues.

Recommendation:
I have used Math Advantage 2005 (CD Version) extensively in tutoring children. Where I have had trouble communicating with the child, I have let them review the video discussion for the topic. The combination of tutoring and using the programs has resolved many problems for the students.
Many of the parents for the students that I have tutored have bought this program based on seeing a live demonstration. In addition, they have saved lots of money in hiring tutors for their children.
I also have the 2008 version on DVD. But I would recommend the 2005 version over it. 2005 lets the students review the problems that they missed on the tests. 2008 does not allow this, thus leaving a gap in the learning process.
I have demonstrated this program for the Illinois Project READ program, and they were impressed. I highly recommend Math Advantage 2005 (5 Stars).

1.0 out of 5 stars Same thing as before..., November 27, 2004
This review is from: Math Advantage 2005 (CD-ROM)
This is just a repackaged version of the 2001 Math Advantage. It seems like all they did was slap 2005 on it and add a link to some math websites in the main menu. Encore did have some good software in the past and now all they do is repackage them every year. If you insist on buying any Encore software, I suggest finding the 2001 version of it on discount or get a used version.
