4.0 out of 5 stars much better than solitarie
This is a one person game. You can play with two to five other computer players. Each of the computer players has three levels of I.Q. This can make the time to play the game vary. Other than that is is CLUE. if you like the board game I think you'd like this as well. It is a solo game, but it sure is better than a deck of computer cards. Sound effects can be turn off if...

1.0 out of 5 stars SecuROM is in this game - buyer beware
It gets one star because I installed the game to find out that it put SecuROM on my computer. I wish that someone reviewing it had mentioned this fact. It would have saved me some money. Now I have the painful task of removing that vile abomination from my machine and searching for ways to get around this problem in order to play the game that I purchased. If I cannot...

Sound effects can be turn off if you don't need to hear a 'corny' scream. The Music is SO-SO.But that is not why I got the game. My money was well spent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clue is a good game, January 11, 2009
This review is from: Clue Classic [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
Clue Classic This is a good game for those times when you want to relax by playing a reasonably short, reasonably challenging game. Each time the characters, weapons and places are different, and you can play at different levels. I win some and I lose some, but I find it stretches my mind and holds my interest.

Great game. Exactly what I expected. Nice that the game actually works with 1 player. Thank you.

1.0 out of 5 stars SecuROM is in this game - buyer beware, March 23, 2010

It gets one star because I installed the game to find out that it put SecuROM on my computer. I wish that someone reviewing it had mentioned this fact. It would have saved me some money. Now I have the painful task of removing that vile abomination from my machine and searching for ways to get around this problem in order to play the game that I purchased. If I cannot find a way then it truly will be money down the drain. I cannot begin to tell you how angry I am at this. This is the last game that I will ever buy from RealArcade or Hasbro. Grrrrrrr!

As far as the game itself goes, I have played it previously and found it a fun little diversion when I was not in the mood to play a more intensive game. It was just like the Clue that I played as a child. So, I would give game play about 3 or 4 stars. However, because of SecuROM I do not recommend this game in this form. Save your money and save yourself some headaches by not buying it.

The title of this review pretty much says it all. This is a perfectly acceptable computer game- fun enough to play, but certainly not addictive. This is the Clue board game put on screen- you move your piece around the board, role dice, make accusations, etc. The drawings in the game (of the characters, rooms, etc.) are excellent, but there's really not much more excitement than the board game offers. Actually, I find it less exciting than the board game because with the board game, you have other people to add to the atmosphere. This is just you and the computer.

Works like you would expect. The fun is coming up with a notation system for your clues, so that you can track who has what, who doesn't have what, and who might have what, and make logical inferences as the game progresses: just like the real game. The only improvement I can think it would benefit from is network play.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, November 30, 2009

CLUE was always my favorite board game as a kid so I knew I'd enjoy playing it on my PC. I've had absolutely no problems (so far) with this software and I've played it quite a bit since receiving it a week ago. It is exactly like the board game except you play alone against at least two other computer-operated players. If you like solving mysteries and trying to figure out who dunnit, you'll enjoy CLUE. It's a fun way to exercise your brain and kill some time. My only complaint is that I wish the characters could talk just a little bit...but not too much. All the throat clearing and gasps get pretty old and you just want to turn the sound off since you don't really need it anyway. Oh well, it's still fun to play.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clue Hints for Level 3 (inspector), March 4, 2010
This review is from: Clue Classic [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
I play with six players and difficulty level three all the time and win over 50% of the games. I did some research and found out that the AI for the game is extremely sophisticated, although it is not indicated by the computers notes. You have to develop interesting strategies and take down many notes to win. Definitely make note of all the cards the other players do not have. When it is revealed that Mrs White does not have a card to show, make sure you note which cards she does not have in her hand. Down the line you can use this information: If she reveals a card and you know that she does not have 2 of the 3 cards guessed, you now know which card she has in her hand. Another strategy is to take note when the computer reveals a card to another player. For example if Col Mustard guesses Ms Scarlet, Knife, Lounge and Mr Green shows Mustard a card, make a note that Green has at least one of those three cards. As the game progresses you may get a free card out of this for example if you find out that Ms Peacock has the knife and Mr Green does not have the Lounge, you now know that Mr Green has to have Ms Scarlet in his hand. These two strategies and good note taking should give you more success on the hardest level.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this game!, September 30, 2009

It reminded me of the movie CLUE that I saw back in the 1980s. I loved the film but never played the board game. It took a little bit of time to figure out how to play the game, and once I got the swing of using the cards and notepads, I started winning in batches. It is fun and easy going but at times since the characters are so one dimensional, I just wanted to hurry up and get to the next level. But nevertheless, it was fun!
