Now this album is real, true country music, the way it was meant to be sung. It's hard to choose a favorite song. They're all exceptional! I especially like Honky Tonkin' Fool, I Don't Call Him Daddy, Reno, and What'll You Do About Me. In the face of all this country-pop crossover music, it's refreshing to hear some traditional sound for once. That's what you'll hear on Doug Supernaw's album. I don't think he got the credit he deserved! Buy this excellent album from a very underrated artist today.

In the early 90's I taped a few country songs from AFN Europe to see if something interesting was among them. One of the songs I taped was a song called "Reno" by a guy named Doug Supernaw. A few months later I heard another song by Doug that I also liked called "Red and Rio Grande". Unfortunately I wasn't able to trace the title of the album. When I finally did, it apparently was out of print. I was delighted when I found this one here at Amazon's. Every song on it is absolutely fantastic!!! This is country at it's best, indefinitely better than the slick, commercial rubbish that has come out of Nashville these last few years (with a few exceptions of course). My favourite track is "Reno", but of course "Honky tonkin'fool" is also outstanding. Special mention should be made of "You never even called me by my name" and "What'll you do about me?", both songs are somewhat related to Garth Brooks'"Friends in low places". Musically, Doug sounds like a cross between George Strait and Mark Chesnutt, his songs have the same "traditional" feel as the best work from these two (fine) artists. Doug is not afraid to put fiddle and slide guitar in the front of the musical mix, something which cannot be said from today's artists who sparcely use these instruments and put them far in the background, almost in an apologetic way(again, with a few exceptions). I could rave on for hours about this album, every song on it is great. Just listen to the lyrics of songs like "I don't call him daddy" or "After the storm" and try to avoid that lump in your throat. I couldn't. This is the perfect album if you just broke up with someone. It'll make you cry, it'll make you laugh, it'll turn you inside out emotionally. If I could give six stars, this album would get seven!

I purchased this CD the Tuesday that it came out, and it has not left my side since. I love every song on it. Reno and Honky-Tonkin' Fool are my personal favorites. If you love REAL country music, don't let this CD pass you by.

As everyone else has said, this is real country. This CD is a good introduction to an underrated artist. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it is a compilation. Buy this album if you are unsure if you will like Doug's music, otherwise go for the albums these songs were taken from.

This CD should be in everyones collection. I can't hear it enough.
