Eminem has lost it,
By assassin78 (Ft Lauderdale FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Encore (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)
How can I explain how bad this new albumn is?"Guess who's back? Back again? Shadys Back tell a friend" The first time i heard Just lose it I thought it was a remix of without me from his last albumn, and I though why are they doing a remix after 2 years? By the time i realized it was a new song Eminem had gone into his screaming "chorus". So has Eminem run out of things to say and will just rely on making noises from now on? Well now he has touched on everything including little boys. I'm definately not into listening to him rap about boys shaking their ass. Has Elton John turned Eminem gay? Songs like this are just pathetic. Big weenie is no better of a song, lyrics like doing doing doing as a chorus, please. And stop doing stupid skits with Paul Rosenburg, as with all skits they just break up the flow of an albumn. I know Eminem has "made it" and he wants to keep putting his boys on, but D-12 are awful. Just because you are down with Shady Aftemath and have Dr Dre and 50 cent(two of the hottest in the hip hop game)in your corner does not excuse this kind of albumn. This is not real hip hop. I cant imagine who's buying this besides prepubescent teenagers. Imagine if this was his first albumn. He would be laughed out of the rap game.

Very Disappointed,
By Guy (England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Encore (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)
I've been a fan of Eminem since he burst onto the Rap scene, in fact, he was the first rapper i ever listened to. But THIS, was a HUGE disappointment. He's still got some lyrical genius, which can be seen on tracks like 'Mockingbird', 'Like Toy Soldiers' and a FEW otheres. However he totaly ruins this album by putting on annoying meaningless crap like 'Big Weenie' and 'Ass Like That'. 'Just Lose It' was also one of the worst songs on the album, at the start it was ok, but if you think it's a good song after time and time again, you know nothing about Hip-Hop.
Giving this album 3 stars is being kind. Please bring back the old Marshall Mathers that caught the attention of our ears in the first place, not this rich successful rapper who sounds like he's lost his lust for music :-(.

More fuel for the fire to burn to make his next album good,

Okay so I've read the most recent 100 of the 190 reviews that have been posted so far for this album, and you know what? I'm surprised in a big way to learn that dozens of people feel the same way about Eminem's four major solo albums as I do: The Real Slim Shady, The Marshall Mathers and The Eminem Show, all were awesome, and established Eminem as perhaps the best rapper out there. But.............okay...so, this isn't quite there. Nope, not at all. Who cares if other rappers could never touch Eminem in his now past-tense prime; not only does Encore feel rushed, formulaic (as in the calculated "shock and awe" on a few songs, the corny funny first single, the endless references to his family, demands for legitimacy, etc), but it's just bored: he doesn't care anymore, and if you don't care, you won't be awesome.
Problems: He just doesn't sound as awesome as he did before. His flow the way it used to be is gone, those polished, awesome, multisyllabic rhymes that came and went and just blew you away, are gone. I don't really care about the beats, they don't bug me one way or the other: if the lyrics were awesome, the samples ("step by step...etc"; "go crazy on you,...etc") and the bass-beats would be awesome, too, because even if Eminem always had the benefit of Dre's and his own almost pop-catchy beats, what made him the best was the lyrics, man, the lyrics, this is crap. And: remember in "Haile's Song", when Eminem says "I can't sing, but I wanta f*ckin sing"? Well, he really wants to sing, now, he sings on half the tracks on the album, but the moment is past, he isn't angry anymore, he's bored, he doesn't have anything more to say...I'm totally disappointed. I keep listening to this, and it's all a disappointment. I don't think a single song from this album could have made it onto Eminem Show, or Marshall Mathers. People talk about Mockingbird...ha. Not enjoyable. Listen to Talib Kweli if you want to hear something good. Or The Shins. Eminem's grown up, d&mmit, I guess I am too. How strange.

LET'S REPEAT ONCE AGAIN,
By Bebito "Santoz" (California, USA) - See all my reviews

Oh poor Eminem. Is it that he is losing his imagination or he has nothing more to say? I'm tired of Eminem making fun of other artist, this time he choose Michael Jackson and Madonna to make fun of them. Isn't he tired of talk sh*t about other people. Why doesn't he waste all of his talent in writing some other useful things. Because he has talent, there's no doubt. But this album, all of this songs and writing just have been done before.
Buy "The eminem show" or "THe slim shady LP" instead of this.

Encore? Nah thanks anyway...,
By D-Wreck "Deezy" (Wisconsin) - See all my reviews

Eminem is one of the top 5 rappers of all time....that has lowered himself to using farting, puking, burping, and other various bodily emission noises to make a cd. This CD is the worst Eminem CD by far. Not only is it the worst Em CD I have bought, but it is damn close to the worst CD I have ever purchased. Oh just in case you didn't know, Em doesn't like Kim, he has a daughter named Hailey that he would do anything for, and he has issues with his mom, don't worry it's on Encore....again and again and again. I really do not know what took him so long to come out with this CD cause honestly if I had Dr. Dre to work with even I could have come up with something better than this. I wish I could tell you guys that there is a good song on this CD or one to recommend but I just can't do it. I wish it was better. It just isn't. Who am I to say though, you listen and try and tell me different.

Don't expect an encore of The Eminem Show,
By Justin Krahn (MB, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Encore (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)
I can see how some Eminem fans might be disappointed with this album. Too many people were expecting another `The Eminem Show' or `Marshall Mathers LP'. But to their surprise, they got *gasp* a different album.
The same thing happens with almost every artist out there. Around the fourth album or so the artist changes their style, wanting to do something different, but they end up being called sell-outs, or people are disappointed in the new sound. In my opinion, this could be Eminem's best album so far, or at least it matches up to the rest of his work. Except `Encore' works on a different level than his previous albums. Until now his albums have had a consistency through most of the disc, where if you like one track, you'll probably like the next. But this is not the case for `Encore'. Yes, there are tracks that fit in with the sound of `The Eminem Show', but there are some that people may find annoying, or disgusting. Marshall shows his sense of humor much more on this album than he has done in the past. To the dismay of some, his sense of humor includes potty-humor. On more than a couple tracks you'll hear burping or farting noises, but if you can get past that you'll probably enjoy those songs. I've decided to give this album five stars for a few reasons. Reason #1: I can't give it 4 ½ stars. Reason #2: I think a lot of the reviews on this site gave it an unjustified low rating, so I'll do what I can to balance it out. Reason #3: Unlike most rap albums, this one has variety, and it shows Marshall's talent and personality. If you're expecting a rerun of Eminem's past albums you might want to listen to `Encore' before you buy it, but otherwise I would say this is a great CD to add to your collection. -Justin Krahn

What was he thinking? There is only one good song on here, "Toy Soldiers". With the release of his previous album "The Eminem Show", which would've gotten 5 star from me, I thought he might actually be maturing and developing a following. There is no doubt that Eminem is an artist and some what of a genius but after hearing this album I keep thinking 'What the hell was he thinking?' I really hate bashing an artist, esp. one that I used to like, but honestly! These lyrics are so immature that it's embarrassing to see this album selling so many copies. Grow up.

Booooo!!!! *throws tomato*,
By Joseph "JoMo" (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Encore (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)
Eminem is one of the, if not, biggest name in the rap industry, taking the world by storm in 1999 as a brutally honest blonde white boy from Detroit. I'll be honest and say at first I disliked Eminem because just how honest he was, with all his girlfriend and homosexual bashing. Then hit "The Eminem Show", which was a fine showcase of his rap ability and that he does in fact have what it takes to be at the top of the rap game. However, with "Encore", this is just a disgrace to his skills and his self.
When "Just Lose It" hit the stations I didn't know what to think. I didn't know if this was actually an attempt to gain a number 1 single or if this was just a joke. It's become clear this is definitely his worst single to date. It's just sooo annoying, I felt like he was just trying to combine all his past "party" singles and combining them into one which resulted in a train wreck. Then he released "Mosh", which like my favorite reviewer (Anthony Humphrey) said, it came out a tad too late to rush anyone to the poles. And again like he said, poking at George Bush is a desperate stab that has become repetitive and there for, not original. And the sad thing is, he gets MORE stupid with songs such as "A** Like That", "Mockingbird", and "Rain Man". As a matter of fact, there are only a few songs I actually DO like, "Spend Some Time" and "Never Enough", and even THOSE aren't his best work. This is a HUGE disappointment for me as an Eminem fan, and I just hope he'll show us better work in the future.

Okay..let me make the record very clear here: I like eminem's stuff. I'm not making this review just to make fun of him because I don't like him..I do. The problem with this album that's been listed numerous times is this: it's so rushed and it's childish. Half of these songs really made me ashamed of listening to it in the first place. The only thing that I really will say that I like about this album is "Mosh"..and Em using a Atmosphere lyric: "Momma had a baby and it's head popped off" in "Evil Deeds". Instead of buying this album..go buy Atmosphere's "God loves ugly" or "Seven's Travels"..I'm sorry but Em, not a good effort at all

It's over...deal with it,
By Alan Ranta (Tiny Mix Tapes) - See all my reviews

Em's creativity was at an end with The Eminem Show. Here, the beats are all bog standard and unimaginative and the lyrics are all recycled from his first 3 albums. Dr. Dre is going through the motions as a producer and Em is afraid to break his now typecast molde and try anything new. There's nothing for you here but more of the same minus the passion.
