UNWORTHY OF THE NAME: "BRITANNICA",
By reviewer (Zurich, Switzerland.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Encyclopaedia Britannica Almanac 2003 (Encyclopedia Britannica Almanac) (Paperback)
At nearly 1200 pages, this book seemed promising. It boasts of a variety of 'archivable' information. But, the fact that its editors chose to include outdated statistics in it surprised me. Some of these data are more than fifteen years old!The compilers of "Encyclopaedia Britannica", (who also handled this Almanac), have access to one of the most current and the most versatile infobase in the world. And, I wonder why they refused to let this Almanac live upto its name. This inexplicable reason makes it hard for me to recommend this Almanac.

A Very Shoddy Product,
By "barbararp" (Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Encyclopaedia Britannica Almanac 2003 (Encyclopedia Britannica Almanac) (Paperback)
This book is not what it advertises itself to be. It is certainly not an almanac. I look to almanac to get up to date information, facts, and statistics. This book is simply a rehasing of old Encyclopedia Britannica entries. Most of the information is hopelessly out of date; for example, a lot of the facts on Countries of the World are from the mid-1980s. If you're looking for a real almanac, you'll have to look elsewhere.

Almanac? Um...no.,
By Satsuma (Maryland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Encyclopaedia Britannica Almanac 2003 (Encyclopedia Britannica Almanac) (Paperback)
Unfortunately for people who have bought this worthless book, it's NOT AN ALMANAC. An almanac is supposed to have actual STATISTICS, this has close to zero. It's like a watered-down Encyclopedia Britannica, but if you want that, just get the new Encyclopedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia (great deal, by the way). If you want a real almanac, I recommend the TIME Almanac. It has all the facts you could ever want, and is much easier to read and use than the competition.

Great for Homework, Crosswords, General Reference,
By Diana (Chicago) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Encyclopaedia Britannica Almanac 2003 (Encyclopedia Britannica Almanac) (Paperback)
This almanac is very accessible and is useful for solving crosswords, getting quick information about countries and U.S. states, science information, and sports statistics. The photos are great. The maps are legible. It's well-designed and well-organized.

Very useful and entertaining,
By Peter Waterhouse (Portland, OR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Encyclopaedia Britannica Almanac 2003 (Encyclopedia Britannica Almanac) (Paperback)
This book seems to offer a lot of information attractively presented. I found it easy to use and full of fun facts, and it was relatively inexpensive. Whenever I use it to look something up, I find myself unable to put it down!

An almanac with feeling,
This review is from: Encyclopaedia Britannica Almanac 2003 (Encyclopedia Britannica Almanac) (Paperback)
This is an almanac with a heart. Check out the amazing photos. Lots of pop culture mixed in with the typical almanac statistics. Though the thumb indexes make it easy to use for those with more serious needs, I had fun just flipping through it and found it hard to put down once I picked it up.
