From Library Journal
General readers will find this an informative source on individuals and organizations involved in U.S. intelligence since the Revolutionary War. Although the subtitle implies the coverage is up to the minute, the author's introduction notes that recent events, e.g., the betrayal of American information by Pollard and Walker, are not included. Entries also cover such events and incidents as the Pueblo capture and the Bay of Pigs invasion attempt. The index is helpful in guiding one to where items not having a separate entry are discussed, e.g., "Purple." Coverage is strongest for the war periods, but peacetime activities are also adequately treated. Sources are cited for each main entry. A valuable work in terms of its breadth of coverage. George H. Siehl, Library of Congress
