5.0 out of 5 stars A companion for all other angel books and an excellent read!
What a great companion to all your other angel books. This encylcopedia is well-researched, easy to read and comprehend. It will assist you while trying to understand all the other angel books out there. And it's a great read on its own!

2.0 out of 5 stars A "Dictionary" instead of a good informative book.
I bought this book thinking of it as an informative one. It is a "dictioanary" not an encyclopedia, because the author doesn't explain too much about each angel. It contains a lot of angels including the fallen ones. I found information on this book very different from the information on other books of angels. That's why i am giving it this rate!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything you want to know about angels in one place., March 12, 1998

This book is an excellent reference tool to keep on your shelf. (Although the cover is really attractive and you might want to display it on your coffee table too!) Especially if you read a lot of new age or spiritual books, you'll find that everything you want to look up is in this book. The author has done all the work for you, including a ton of cross-references. I definitely recommend this encyclopedia of angels.

This is a comprehensive reference tool for the study of angels and their missions. It is a valuable companion for seminary students, ministers, and writers interested in the subject of angels and wanting to learn more about them. A valuable addition to everyone's library.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of information, but where are the illustrations?, September 18, 2002
This review is from: The Encyclopedia of Angels: An A-to-Z Guide with Nearly 4,000 Entries (Paperback)
Call me crazy, but a few pictures would have made a world of difference in this book. That's the ONLY complaint I have about this easy to read, easy to carry, easy to love book on angel errata.

My boyfriend knows about my freakish obsession with angels, and suggested I buy this. He was actually right for once! I found that this book has tons of information, summarized neatly and cross referenced with different spellings of names (in case you're hung up on one in particular). I liked that the author bolded certain important passages, so you knew just what to look for when skimming.

I also liked that the author included next to the names of the angels the meaning of their names (as in Naamah means 'pleasurable').

The appendix and bibliography actually have a ton of information in there as well (just in case you weren't looking!). Cross referenced are all the mentions of angels from the Bible, Koran, and other religious works, as well as a listing of Renaissance paintings dealing with angels.

Well worth the money.
