As an artist I was hoping for a bird reference showing not only varied anatomy and birds from various angles but instead I get pieces of a bird without a complete picture. Not real helpful..

I highly recommend this book to any power carver who specializes in birds. This is an excellent reference for a large variety of birds. It provides drawings of the head, beak, wing and tail feathers, and feet that are key to successful bird carving. It is too bad that it is out of print since it is an invaluable resource. I do not understand why Fox Chapel does limited book runs since most of their reference material is so useful.

I was introduced to this book at a bird carving class done by an award winning bird carver. At the time, a new book was being sold for over $140 on Amazon. I got mine for $36 in good condition and thought it was a steal in today's market. It is an important resource to all bird carvers!
