Got this for my 4th grade grandson who is not a strong reader. He really likes the stories and reads them happily.

Sherlock Holmes like stories set in modern day America,
This review is from: Encyclopedia Brown Collection (Hardcover)
Encyclopedia Brown is a perfect series for the analytical pre-teen. Leroy Brown, AKA Encyclopedia Brown, is a boy detective who solves mysteries through logic, science, and acute attention to details. The stories challenge readers to solve the puzzles on their own before revealing the solution. Listening to the audio version on road trips provides both entertainment and family interaction.

I have two sons, age seven and eight who are at roughly the same reading level (early 3rd grade)and while they find some of the vocabulary challenging, they really enjoy reading this book aloud to each other.
