5.0 out of 5 stars The Definitive Reference on Catholic Devotions and Practices, August 28, 2008
This review is from: Encyclopedia of Catholic Devotions and Practices (Hardcover)
Dear Reader:

Ann Ball's book the "Encyclopedia of Catholic Devotions and Practices" is the definitive reference on the subject in 1 volume. Like Joan Carroll Cruz, Ann Ball has given Catholics a single volume reference on Devotions and Practices that the average Catholic is not even remotely aware of. I'll give it a 9.5 out of 10 because she probably, inadvertantly, missed the famous Eastern Catholic, or Byzantine Rite Devotion called the "Paraklesis to the Most Holy Mother of God" practiced by Melkite Eastern Catholics and Orthodox, from August 1-14 of each year. They consider the "Paraklesis" equal to or second only to the Holy Rosary.

Ofcourse, the proper celebration of the Holy Mass and reception of the transubstantiated "Body and Blood of Christ" at Holy Communion is the most perfect form of prayer.

On the Internet, one can find the Catholic "Paraklesis to the Most Holy Mother of God" from the "Pittsburgh Metropolitan Cantor Institute". Except for this sacred devotion, this one volume Encyclopedia of Catholic Devotions, Prayers and Practices is complete and a must for all Catholic book collections. Daniel P. Kneeland, Grafton, Ma.
