Must Have Foreign Car Buff Book, May 19, 2009
This review is from: Encyclopedia of Classic Cars: Sports Cars 1945-1975 (Hardcover)
If you are a foreign car buff of any kind, you must have this book. If you are a fan of older foreign sports cars you don't know it but you shouldn't even be living without this book. Period.
First off, it is the right size. Not one of those bulky, useless coffee table books one looks at once and generally has no information, let alone stats like how many made, engine sizes, variations etc. I keep this by the side of my bed and re-read it and refer to it all the time. Like today when I looked up what a Lancia Flavia Coupe looks like because a friend of mine keeps one in UK to rally and I wanted to remind myself what they looked like. Reading this book doesn't get old.
You can see the details in the product description. Hundreds of good, interesting real life (mostly) photos. Not many studio shots, if any.
Excellent quality printing. Good construction.
I'm just amazed how much they want for the book. I know I didn't spend this much on it at Half-priced books. Gee, a book that actually grew in value for me!
I'm here to see if I can buy one for the above friend but might be too rich for my blood. I am going to buy Box's companion book on saloons. That is one point I missed about this book but it IS about sports cars.
I am also looking to see if Box or Rebo Productions came up with a book on sports cars from 75 to the present. If they did, I hope I can afford it. Heck, I will probably buy it even if I can't.
