A must for every quilter,

This is by far the best quilting book in my collection. It features gorgeous patterns, and excellent instructions. This book also features outlines of the cutting templates you will need. This book is so detailed that you can pick up this book and complete the quilt without requiring outside references. The only difficult thing about this book is picking the pattern you will make as they are all so beautiful. An excellent blend of piece quilting and applique quilting patterns.

Useful book- but watch for shrinkage during prewashing.,
By Lauren (Tempe, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Encyclopedia Of Classic Quilt Patterns (Paperback)
This is an amazing quilt book, and by far the most used in my collection. The patterns are beautiful and the instructions are clear. I spend a lot of time simply looking at all of the beautiful full page color photos! I've also learned a lot from the general tips at the beginning of the book. This is a wonderful resource for beginning and intermediate quilters, who don't know how to do things like sew set-in seams and make large amounts of bias binding.
One thing to note about this book- the fabric measurements don't account for shrinkage during prewashing. This has been an issue on some of the quilts that require a lot of fat quarters, where I've found myself an inch or two short for that last row of shapes during cutting. When making any pattern from this book, buy an extra quarter yard of large amounts and a few extra fat quarters for scrap quilts.

This is the best quilting book I have purchased. The pictures are fabulous and easy to see. There are complete and easy to understand instructions for each pattern. There are so many of these quilts that I'd like to make, I'll be busy for years. I would highly recommend this book to any quilter.

I just love these quilts! Bought two additional books- one for my mom and the other for my sister-in-law. You won't be disappointed. This book not only has the patterns, but also the quilt stitching patterns. Nice!

This book takes you step by step through making each quilt (and include all of the templates for each quilt). I have now made 6 quilts out of this book and they are fantastic!

Don't let the cover fool you.,

I didn't find the cover appealing, but picked it up in a hobby store, opened it and immediately decided I had to have it. It has 101 patterns with beautiful photographs of every quilt. There were a number of applique quilts that I had not seen before. This is a treasured book in my quilting library.

This book is a keeper. I use mine for identifing quilts seen and
possibly purchased at yard sales, estate auctions, and where ever I see them - mostly handed down through the family. This book has paid off several times the cost of the book. I also use it for recreating period quilts.

I own this book and would never part with it. It is a comprehensive encyclopedia of patterns, along with directions and pictures. I donated many quilt magazines to Goodwill after purchasing this book, because it is all you need. There are more patterns in here then you could make in 1 lifetime! I enjoyed the full color photos and added directions on how to change the size of the quilts from wall-king size. Also, it has both rotary and template piecing directions.
