Delicious everyday recipes plus beautiful pictures.,

This review is from: The Encyclopedia of Creative Cooking (Hardcover)
A friend loaned me her copy of this book. It's her favorite, and I see why. Lots of recipes for everyday type meals, with glossy color pictures. Recipes for Trout, Lamb, Pork, Pastries...you name it. Well organized and easy to follow.

It's a weapon, it's HUGE. Basics to advanced cooking skills are both covered. The recipes are clear, the pictures are plentiful and fantastic. I have given 3 copies of this book as gifts, everyone loves it. It's one of those rare cookbooks that has creative ideas, but not so far out of the box you wonder what they were thinking. Lot's of down home food too....it covers it all from scrambling an egg to making a mousse. I own probably 100 cookbooks and this one is hands down my favorite

This book is a beast in itself, HEAVY, but filled with so many things ! I remember being in my freshman year of High school and bought a copy of this for myself and for my cooking teacher! (i wonder if she still has hers) From pasta and pizza dough recipes, lasagna, appetizers, soups, you name it, its in here! Organized by food genre and a full alphabetized index in the back, it makes what you are searching for a breeze. Even tho the book itself was published more than 20 yrs ago, you'll still find many things you can make today that you can find you own ways to update to make more "2007" Full color photos for some of the recipes, not the new hi digitized like we are accustomed to today, but still very appetizing. Get it, you'll definitely keep it on your shelf for years and incorporate it into your kitchen meals.

I love this book! Great pictures, how-to diagrams, recipes galore...this takes things back to 'old school'. Have you forgotten or never cooked those great dishes from yesterday or standards for today, want to get extra tips on preparations for drinks, entertaining, how to make your own piping bag? THis book has it, and its soooo cheap. I keep it on hand to train cooks/chefs about 'back in the day' or when I need to bring their head back to the basics of cooking fine meals and classic sauces, drinks, desserts...at this price I can not recommend this book enough.
One of the editors is was also an editor on the Larousse Gastronomique.

I recieved my first copy of this book 20 years ago and used it until the cover was falling apart. I ordered another from Amazon and I still love this book. The recipes are accurate and taste great.
It has everything from Quiche to sheppards pie and several icing recipes. The pictures are also wonderful and inspire me to cook even more.

Have something new for dinner!,
This review is from: The Encyclopedia of Creative Cooking (Hardcover)
This is my very favorite cookbook of all time. If I could only keep on my far-too-many cookbooks, this would be it. I bought it originally at Sears about 20 years ago, but it became so deteriorated from use and abuse that I decided I had to buy a new copy. I was very glad to have found it on Amazon.com.This is a big, heavy, book with many photos (though not of every recipe - it would be five times as big!). I haven't counted, but I think it might have every single recipe in the world within it ;) There's cakes, stews, pastas, roasts, cookies, breakfasts, casseroles, soups, desserts, meatloaves, seafood, relishes, crepes, glazes, sauces, and so much. Very international in scope, such as Norwegian, Japanese, German, Brazillian, African, Turkish, Greek, French, Italian, Southern, Mexican, Chinese, whatever. There's healthy stuff and kill-you-quick stuff. As simple as basic boiled rice and as fancy as cornish game hens with savory stuffing. A spectacular choice for browsing to come up with something different for dinner. I bet you could easily come up with something new, that you actually like, no matter what your taste, for every day of the year.

Absolutely love this cookbook! I received one as a gift many years ago and it's my go to book for home cooking! Gave this one to my daughter since she is a beginner cook. I know she will use it for many years to come!
