Great for beginners and my mom loved it too,
This review is from: The Encyclopedia Of Crochet Techniques: A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Unique Fashions and Accessories (Hardcover)
I'm pretty new to crochet, but found this really useful to get to understand things about crochet projects I was trying to make from magazines. My mom is a bit of a crochet expert, and reckons she has learned a few things from this book too, so there you go, two satisfied customers for the price of one!

I am teaching myself to crochet and this book has been a great help. It has not only helped me with the different stitches but it has helped me to better understand how to read patterns.

Definitely the best crocheting guide available!,
This review is from: The Encyclopedia Of Crochet Techniques: A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Unique Fashions and Accessories (Hardcover)
As a beginning crocheter, I looked at many crocheting books. Most of them were disappointing. Not this book. This is definitely the best book available and I would highly recommend it. The drawings, photographs and explanations are clear, understandable and correct.

I LOVE this book. It is the best resource book I have in my library and I have MANY books! The pictures are very clear--'real' and illustrated. You can very easily see all the stitches. It covers everything from the basics of starting up to experienced crocheting with tunisian, edging, and beads to mention a few. It also shows other aspects like shaping, reading patterns, working buttonholes and joining. There is a huge stitch 'library'. There are only seven projects in the book (great basic patterns that you can play with --with your extensive library of stitches), but that is not why you should make your decision about this book--it is an 'encyclopedia of crochet techniques' --not a pattern book. There is also a 'gallery' in the back with crocheted items people have done to be inspired.
Again I love this book--It would be one of those things I would 'grab' if I had to be out of my house in a hurry---God forbid! PS: I think they are the same but I own the lilac(purple) colored book, copyright 2006

I'm an experienced crocheter who has purchased many, many books through the years - this is another rehash - not much original content in these type of books. You are good to go with probably 2 of this type. Especially when the same author published books of this type - always a rehash.
