3.0 out of 5 stars good but not great, July 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Encyclopedia of Dream Cars: A Celebration of Contemporary and Fantasy Cars From 1975 to the Present Day (Hardcover)
Good but not great This is a good book for the price but not as good as I had hope. First, the good parts. This book has a lot of color photos(around 900)and it does cover a lot of cars(Mclaren, Ferrari, Porsche, NSX, Lamboghini, BMW, Lotus, Viper, Corvette, Mercedes, De Loren, Jaguar,...). Unfortunately, that is the biggest reason why I didn't like it. Because it covers so many cars it spends very little time on each car(about 2-4 pages for each manufactures NOT each cars, noted exception is the Ferrari section which is 12 pages BUT for 7 different Ferrari). The other major problem is that it has many cars that nobody would consider as DREAM CARS(Jeep, Camaro, Renault Espace and Twingo - both are VANS!!, Miata, Peugeot 205GT1, Volkswagon Golf! Give me a Break!). This could have been a great book IF they had focus on real dream cars and go into detail. Lets say 5+ pages for EACH cars rather then each automaker. I'm tempted to give this book 2 stars instead of 3. A good book for the Beginner car enthusiest but for the rest of us - better to spend more money on a better book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Pictures, but boring, September 5, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Encyclopedia of Dream Cars: A Celebration of Contemporary and Fantasy Cars From 1975 to the Present Day (Hardcover)
I bought this for my boyfriend for his birthday and he's a car enthusiast. Anyway, I thought it would be a great present but it turns out that it was just way to boring for him. Not very exciting...
