Classic Paperweight Reference,
By
This review is from: The Encyclopedia of Glass Paperweights (Paperback)
If I were abandoned on a desert island with only one paperweight reference book, it would be this one. While is it certainly shows its publishing date and does not have some of the pretty color pictures of more contemporary works, it is redeemed over and over by its scope and breadth of coverage that few other reference books can match. There are a few places where more modern scholarship might have come to differing conclusions but that is the nature of all study and research.
This reference book should be part of any collector's library and represents such a small investment for its lasting value and broad coverage of paperweights and their makers.

My bookshelf is stuffed with paperweight reference books. Whenever I have a question, this book comes out.
Sure, some of the information has changed through the years; but, this book is what laid the foundation for a lot of our recent discoveries and findings. This book is a must have for any paperweight collector.

This book I would consider the best in identifying the antique and mid-century paper weight. Tho dated it still holds your interest with images and facts on the subject.

This does give a lot of information to the shapes and sizes of Paperweights, especially the french factories which is what I bought it for, it was second hand but still in good condition with no pages torn or turned, the only downside being that the pictures were apart from a few pages all black and white which spoiled a colectors eye, I love the millefiori and finding most of them in B & W isnt what I wanted but it shows the designs well and the profiles which can a god send to avoid those copies we find for sale, especially when they are $250 upto $3,000, recommended for information, but for color...there are others

Although this book contains a few tidbits of information that are useful to an avid paperweight collector, overall it is dated and omissive even for its time. It really has nothing in the way of quality photo's and information that hasn't been done better in more modern books.
