From Library Journal
Few sporting events rival the NCAA Basketball Tournament in generating fan interest. This work represents the first attempt to provide a complete guide to the 52-year history of the tournament, and in nearly every aspect it succeeds admirably. Included is a year-by-year history that begins with a diagram indicating results from opening round to the championship contest. Box scores of every game ever played (1,563 through the 1990 season) form the core of the book, although a brief overview of each year's tournament, focusing on key games, reveals the ebb and flow of action and emotion often unreflected in the statistics. Individual and team leaders and records as well as profiles of prominent players and coaches round out the text. Future supplements and a 1993 revised edition are planned by the publisher. In scope, substance, and format this resource passes muster and is likely to become a staple of collegiate basketball reference collections.
