The Encyclopedia of Non-Sport & Entertainment Trading Cards Volume 1: 1985-2006 is a useful guide if you deal in these product lines as I do. The pricing seems to accurately reflect marketplace trends. My one complaint is the layout of the pages themselves: I dislike the way this book is laid out because in some cases it is hard to tell exactly which picture they are speaking of in the text. They may talk about 10 different items or years of items on a page and then only show two pictures in the margins. The way it is laid out, it can be confusing as to what is being referred to. Otherwise, its a useful addition to any collector's shelf.

First off, let me say that this is an excellent and very informative guide to modern non-sports cards. Indeed, it seems to be about the best (or only?) one available for the 1985-2006 time period it covers. Others have commented about confusion with the card photos on the sides, but if you can't figure those out, you're probably frustrated with much more in life than this guide.

The only downside that I have found to this guide is the extremely cheap binding used. Rather than being stitched (preferable for a thick guide that will see lots of use) or even glued securely, the glue used for the binding is akin to that used for postcard "books" where the cards are meant to be removed. I purchased the book new, and after a week of moderate use, the glue had "split" so that the book always falls open to the same page and you can see the back of the cover/spine through the split glue. After another week of use, pages are falling out. This is so frustrating for me, I may actually take the time to scan each page (since they are easily removable now) and keep it in pdf format on my computer rather than pulling the quickly-degrading book from the shelf each time I need to look something up.

I just got this book in the mail today and I am quite impressed. It's even better than I expected. This book is freaking awesome! It includes facts, collector's values, and even color pictures for every non-sport trading card imaginable from 1985-2006; chase sets, variants, promos, and all. It's got everything: comic cards, monster cards, movie cards, t.v. cards, wrestling cards, girl pin-up cards, Garbage Pail Kids, EVERYTHING! It's ordered in alphabetical order by sets, but includes an autograph and artist index for quick reference. It's even got an autograph gallery so you can compare to real autographs! It's printed by Non-Sport Update, so everything in it is sure to reliable. This is a MUST HAVE for any card collector, I highly recommend it.

I highly recommend this book if you are a nonsport card collector. It provides a wealth of useful information on nonsport cards and promo cards,too. The full color galleries are most impressive and I really enjoyed looking through them. This is definitely a must-have book!

Purchased item on 4/12. Have contacted twice and been assured that it would be mailed. Still no Encyclopedia. Just will not send.
