5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Way to Learn the Most Wonderful Areas of Oragami
Most faboulus for the beginner, although anyone can use it as a reference book. It teaches many ways to create homemade paper and my favorite were the boxes. I give it two thumbs up.

1.0 out of 5 stars Caveat Emptor
This book has been reprinted in paperback as "Artistry in Paper" by Paul Jackson ... it's a great book, but Quarto is notorious for reprints without telling the public. Amazon - you should make sure we are fully informed about this rather shady practice. I'm now the proud owner (NOT) of both books :-( I'll probably donate one to our local calligraphy guild ... but I...

3.0 out of 5 stars this book is more of an overview not for instruction with a great picture gallery, October 3, 2009

This review is from: Encyclopedia of Origami and Papercraft (Hardcover)
I am a high school art teacher in the inner city with a very limited budget and I was looking for a more economical way to expose my students to sculpture. I have very little experience in paper sculpture/craft other than papier mache, so I was looking for a book to educate myself and offer project ideas. The sections that I feel would be more suitable for high school are frustrating because of the limited information on technique like, model making, packaging, paper engineering, quilling. Even the paper sculpture section(which is why I purchased the book),compared to the others had more coverage, but was still lacking. I had previously purchased Paper, Scissors, Sculpt!: Creating Cut-and-Fold Animals, so most of that section's information I already knew and it had the bonus of templates I could use as handouts. All of the captivating sculpture projects are in the back of the book with no instruction on where to began to recreate them. In my opinion this book is more of an overview not for instruction.
