5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for beginners and advanced alike, January 1, 1999

This is a thoroughly beautiful book with explanations of the most typical pottery techniques. The descriptions of the techniques are in some cases not as detailed as one might want, but if you know what you're doing, they are good enough. The photos in the book are particularly inspiring and beautiful. There are some lovely examples shown of every technique discussed. I highly recommend this to anyone new to pottery as a source of inspiration and information.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book to use in the classroom!, October 23, 2001
By
I ordered this book last year, to use in my high school ceramics classes, and it is already dog-eared! My kids use this book all the time to get ideas for their projects or just to start their creative juices flowing. My advanced students find it an invaluable source for unusual techniques and methods of decorating ceramic ware. I even use this book in order to get ideas for my curriculum for the year.

I've been throwing for about 3 years and this book was given to me as a gift. It briefly touches on many subject and has a lot of good pictures.

I would recommend this to anyone with interest in pottery, both wheel throwing and hand building.

This book was sent to me promptly and in excellent condition. (I already knew the contents as I had previously obtained it from the library.) This is a comprehensive, step-by-step, well-illustrated pottery/ceramics book which includes many different techniques and many full-color photographs. I highly recommend this for the beginning or advanced clay artist. I am totally satisfied with my purchase from this seller.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Encyclopedia of Pottery Techniques, July 5, 2010

This is a wonderfully written book on pottery. I have had it for years, then I lost it in a fire and found it through Amazon.com. The book contains beautifully photographed examples and very clear step-by-step instructions on each technique for working with clay. This book out of my collection of art instruction books that I have lost, is the first one I replaced. I suggest it to anyone who is learning to squeeze clay, or to anyone who would like to try some very creative techniques.
